I have no idea what Mt favorite summer movie us. Meatballs 1979, a summer camp movie starring Bill Murray. His first starring role. Bill and Chevy previously had a fist fight on SNL. But they made it through the scene together here which was largely improvised. Ted Knight basically hated everyone, but especially Rodney. Ted is a life long professional. Everyone else was hgh out of their minds. And Rodney had never acted so he had no idea what "Action!" meant. So instead Harold would just say, "Do your bit." The film was supposed to be about the caddies, but they kept hiring big name actors. The guy in charge of the caddies "Pick up that blood!" us Bill Doyle-Murry, Bill's brother. The family in the beginning is based on their upbringing as well as both being caddies. Most of Bill's dialog was improvised and he was actually only around for a few days. The whole "Cinderella story bit eas his idea. He asked them to plant flowers there. They learned why after saying "Action." Avoid Caddyshack 2.

The 6 Million Dollar Man is an old T.V. show, from the 70's I think. The main character was injured and parts of his body was replaced with mechanical parts. This basically made him a superhero. Every time he used these parts that noise was made.

Yes it is from the 70's. He was testing an experimental rocket plane and it malfunctioned. He lost his legs an arm and an eye. Every time the camera cut to his face when he was looking long distance it would focus on his eye and make the sound. Definitely watch Meatballs, it Bill's first movie after his run on SNL. And it's still a Bill classic. And if you ever watch old T.V. shows, might I suggest watching the first 5 seasons of Saturday Night Live. It's where Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, and John Belushi got their start. There's also some other great cast members that probably aren't well known today such as Gilda Radner who was probably one of the funniest cast members on the show and one of the funniest women of SNL. She died in the 80' s and never did any films, so most people today may not know of her. There was aloso Jane Curtain, Loraine Newman, and Garret Morris. And Steve Martin hosted quite often along with Buck Henry. And the first host of the very first SNL ever is Goerge Carlin. I think it would be cool for you to learn the roots of all these comedians in these movies and see your reactions to them.

Hi, Jen. The Six Million Dollar Man was a Movie and TV series based on the Martin Caidin novel, "Cyborg," about an astronaut who suffered catastrophic injuries in a crash. His legs, one arm, and one eye were replaced by prosthetics that provided enhanced performance, used for secret agent work. The sound effect that accompanied such feats was used when Chevy Chase was stunt putting.

Jen, That was a very expensive Rolls Royce convertible that Rodney pulled up to the club in. Steve Austin was the 6 Million Dollar Man, a very popular TV show back in the day. He was a pilot/astronaut that had a terrible crash landing. He was "rebuilt" with all these biomechanical improvements that made him fast runner, a high jumper, super hearing, super sight and heaven knows what else. The cost for all this surgery and improvements was 6 million dollars. He went on adventures every week and beat the triple turds out of the bad guys.

I found out recently that the out of place section with the pregnancy scare was there because the movie was originally written to be centered around the young caddy Danny, but when the high profile comedians signed on his role was reduced and all the comedians were given larger roles, changing it from a coming of age drama to a comedy.

1:36 Harold Ramis did this and acted in Ghostbusters. He was Egon. Sam Raimi did the Spider-Man movies. A lot of Bill Murray’s lines were adlibbed and encouraged to do so by Harold Ramis. 3:58 the man in charge of the caddy’s is Bill Murray’s brother. 5:30 it’s funny how everyone is paying attention to her cause of her top and her uncle is oblivious to what she’s wearing. He seems like the kind of guy that wouldn’t like her wearing that and would say something. This film was based of Bill Murray’s brother’s real life experience as a caddy. 14:41 he doesn’t have any fresh bottles of sparkling water so he was making it look like it was fresh. 16:42 her uncles room and bed. 19:10 he survived the lightning strike and now believes that God doesn’t exist. That would make me an even stronger believer if I survived that strike. 20:10 he wanted Ty to play for him cause he knows how well Ty can play. Harold Ramis got the gopher idea from an old Mickey Mouse cartoon where Mickey is golfing and Pluto sees a gopher and digs up the whole course trying to find the gopher. They added the gopher to bring the film together and Harold Ramis wanted a real animal to play the gopher but couldn’t do it so they did a mechanical one. Which to me is better cause they can do more with a fake one. The sequel wasn’t really that good mainly cause it feels forced like they had to make it. Another golf movie to check out is “Who’s Your Caddy?”.

Jen, I smiled when you confused Harold Ramis for a Raimi. Two entirely different directing genres. Ramis was also the director of "Groundhogs Day". If you like BTS stuff there still may be a doc on YT about how when they were filming this, it was a non-stop party. In the '90's, they released an automated gopher that looked exactly like it did in the film, complete with fur. You'd push a button on it's base and it would do his twisting dance from the movie to the Kenny Loggins song. I wish I still had mine. There is an inferior sequel, the only retuning character is the gopher. Bill Murry did another summer camp movie called "Meatballs" you may enjoy.

If you want a Canadian early 80's cult classic, you gotta check out Heavy Metal, from 1981. First adult animated film I ever saw, based on a popular comic magazine originally from France called Metal Hurlante, which showcased outrageous stories of all genres, and the movie is like a pure embodiment of everything a geek could want: fantasy, sci-fi, horror, comedy, all with various gorgeous styles of animation, and with an absolutely badass soundtrack to tie it all together.

It's Ramis, not Raimi. Harold Ramis wrote Ghostbusters with Dan Aykroyd and starred in it, the guy directing Ghostbusters 1 and 2 was Ivan Reitman. My summer movie I would say is The Secret to My Success with Michael J. Fox and Helen Slater. And the reason is because it always shows on TV here in Sweden on summers, even this year and twice. A very underrated romantic comedy from the 80's and I think you will like it, Jen =)

We had a VCR and 2 movie cassettes and we played both films nonstop everyday in the background whether anyone was watching or not. This film was basically the spiritual successor to Animal House, which was written by the same team of writers. Both movies are largely episodic narratives that focus on an ensemble cast, and both explore a common theme: snobs vs. slobs. Class disparity is a motivating factor in the crass behavior of the heroes: why would they conform to the rules of a society designed to keep them down? In this particular film, Rodney Dangerfield's character represents New Money clashing with Old Money. Not only is his source of income associated with the working class, but he's from Eastern European (and possibly Jewish) descent. His family undoubtedly came to America in poverty, and now he has the audacity to think that his hard-earned money can buy his way into a club intended for those with generational wealth. And on top of that, he dares to criticize the club members for being out of touch. These themes are picked up again in the sequel, which was intended to be a Dangerfield-focused vehicle. But he dropped out, and Jackie Mason came in to play a nearly identical character. Chevy Chase and the gopher return for the follow-up, but the end product wasn't quite on par. Much of what was implicit in the first movie was explicit in Caddyshack II, and Harold Ramis essentially wrote a less subtle and more cartoonish remake of the original film. (He also didn't bother directing this time.)

Harold Ramis is not related to Sam Raimi, but Ramis WAS fond of sticking directors into his films. Like Frank Oz, in multiple flicks, and Steven Spielberg in Blues Brothers. And Sam Raimi was one of several directors to be featured in front of the camera in Spies Like Us, including Terry Gilliam and Ray Harryhausen. . edit -- no, I'm a dope. Ramis did NOT use other directors in his movies, that was Landis. The two of them were like comedy-directing gods back then. I mixed them up because as soon as I got home today from a stressful day, I lit up a bowl. Totally my bad.

All these things are very, very good to eat." :) 6:50 - "Kinda cute." - You can buy an animated version of the gopher. It dances to the song I'm alright by Kenny Loggins. 11:38 - The Six Million Dollar Man was a TV show about a test pilot who was in a bad plane crash. He lost both legs, an arm and an eye. The government rebuilt him with "bionic" parts, giving him super vision, great strength and super speed. Since this was the 70s and special effects were limited, especially on a TV show budget, they would show him lifting something heavy (like a car) while a similar noise played to clue you in to the fact that he was doing something super-human. At 16:40 "Fastest guitar solo ever." You might change your mind if you watch the movie "Crossroads" with Ralph Macchio. His character wants to be a blues guitarist. As a guitar player, this movie is so good with the musical talent involved. It's pretty good with one of my favorite movie moments, ever.

*Heavyweights* is a must see great summer camp movie! *Mearballs* also with Bill Murray, I'm sure has already been recommended, so I'll just agree with it. *Ernest Goes To Camp* I loved as a kid, I still do but it is made to be a silly movie for kids. *Camp Nowhere* is a very underrated film in my opinion, I think it is such a cute movie, it also has a mini _Back To the Future_ reunion of sorts! *The Sandlot* is not a camp movie but is the _essential_ summer movie you need to see. *Summer Rental* is a great John Candy family on vacation movie. *The Great Outdoors* Also with John Candy and Dan Aykroyd too on this one. *One Crazy Summer* a Savage Steve Holland movie for a surreal fun funny summer adventure! I love this movie! *Summer School* to check in on those poor souls who missed out on summer fun, but the movie itself still brings the funny! *Stand By Me,* in my opinion, is the perfect movie to close out summer! Ted Knight, who played Judge Smails, was lovable/hatable news anchor named Ted Baxter on a very popular TV show in the 70s called the Mary Tyler Moore show. Chevy Chase was on the first season of Satuday Night Live then he left and was replaced by Bill Murray. I forget why but they hated each other during the making of this movie though they have since made amends.

Lol SO many children ,..I grew up with 7 brothers and 2 sisters , it was AMAXING honestly, we had so much fun! My brother has 14!!!!!! With k ly 1 set of twins and they are the most amazing family! I’ve got 3 little daughters that are my life and it feels like such a small family being a single dad with jsut 3 daughters (and their yellow Lab Daisy) but they are the most awesome daughters ever!

After a NASA test flight accident, Austin is rebuilt with bionic implants which give him superhuman strength, speed and vision" It had a few movies as well and a spinoff series called "The Bionic Woman" I watched it as a kid. Was a great TV show, but if you watch it today you will be able to tell it's from the 70's...not in a crappy way but still!. When ever Steve would run fast (and he could run fast than cars) or use his incredible strength they would add in some music (always the same music) and a sound effect that sounded like "duhduhduhduhduh" or something similar!

When I was a kid, probably 9 or 10, this along with Stripes was the only movie laying around the house. I only watched it for Lacey Underall, and the pool scene. There wasn’t a single joke that made any sense to me. As a semi-adult though it’s become one of my favorites.

Caddyshack is such a classic, A great summer camp movie for the future is Indian Summer. It has the late Alan arkin's and Bill Paxton in it.
