@@manicmods I finally got around to rewiring my CTS. I plugged in the metra extra harness that goes to the stock head unit, and its not snapping in and staying secure. Did you tape it secure or am I not doing it right?

wow this is fantastic. I am getting ready to redo the audio in my V-wagon. I am going to remove the bose and install two amps for new speakers and a sub. I am also going to remove onstar. So you had to retain the factory stereo just to have the AC work properly? Just want to be sure I am clear on that. Seems so odd that it is a wagon only thing.

I like that you cut out the back of the cd bin to shove the wires back there. I wish you had showed the final wire hookup though. I don't actually know where the large 3018 plug goes. There seems to be just the one plug that was in that location where your hand is at 16:10, but I'm not certain if that's the case or not. What bugs me is that there is no instruction nor pictures of where to plug in the 3018 harness in any of their installation guides; or at least not the ones provided by Crutchfield from Metra. And, I've watched three videos and nobody is showing that part. I know ; it's obvious once you've done it. Thanks for any otherwise excellent video.

Hey, great install! I did my own to my wagon last year, but I haven't had any issues with the AC. Is that a problem that builds up over time, or was the AC supposed to be instantly non-functional?

Thank you 🙂 That's wild you have a wagon that works with Metra's module! What's the year and trim of the CTS? The manual says not compatible, and forums and metra had same experience, which is losing the temp control and zoned AC controls.

The DMX908S, part of a 3-unit family of low-profile head units for an install like yours, is 7/16" thicker than the DMX709S; 3-3/8" vs 2-15/16". Any idea if the thicker head unit could work? Would the model of Kenwood unit change the install electrically?

As long as double din, you'll be fine. At 18:10 you can see plenty of depth for CD equipped stereos. I'd suspect the color coding of Kenwood would be the same, but of course worth a check against that manual. Drop me a reply or find me on Reddit if you could use help along the way. Any advice for the 9.7" Android install on the 2008 Cadillac STS using the Metra AXDIS-GM13?

Thanks for watching! I am not familiar with the STS, but if Metra has a kit for it chances are somebody is. Generally speaking, the Android headunits are no different in wiring than a multimedia headunit. So don't let that scare you off, and good luck!

Hey, Thanks for the awesome video! Has anyone figured out if they can wire the OEM Backup camera into the head unit? I hate that its a tiny screen in my rear-view mirror.

Thanks! My customer did not have it- I was ready to add one, but project went over budget. With that said, I expect you could find the proprietary connector and convert to RCA. Let me know year and model, and I will try to confirm for you. I've got some projects lined up this week, so may not immediately reply but I got you!

@@manicmods thanks for the response! I found a product from AXXESS (item # AXBUCH-GM2) called a backup camera retention harness after posting this. I bought it, and will test to see if this works! Will post here once all the parts I ordered come in and get installed.

Anybody know how to wire up a second amp? Im having touble finding a good 12v switched as well as a input for the sound

is this with the bose system? if so do all the speakers work?

Bose system, UQS digital amp. All speakers work. You'll lose front to rear fade option as this was controlled digitally by stock unit. Left and right fade work. Hope this helps!
