If the display says "LOCKED", this is a Vin Locked stereos and requires the stereo to be programmed by the dealership or some repair shops. If the stereo display says "LOC", most cases you can decode this without the dealer$hip.

So far the 1st thing you said about having to go to the dealership after a aftermarket replacement is way wrong. What are you talking about? Every major seller sells an adapter to hook right up to the oem radio connector even steering wheel radio function adpters.

He's talking about replacing the factory radio with another factory radio. It would be locked and has to be reprogrammed by the dealership
