Very clear and informative. I have heard we should never use an impact wrench on the spindle/axle nut, thats to avoid applying too much torque and damaging the bearing. But these bros know what they are doing. Im gonna do mine by friday. Thanks much. UPDATE: I did my right front side today with success. Im gonna do the drivers side after I receive the other hub/bearing assembly. The whoop whoop sound I was getting is 95% gone. Mechanic charged me $600 dollars for front both sides, 1.5 years ago and I barely drive the car. The procedure was straight forward and easy for me being I had mine changed recently. Thanks again John Dobis. UPDATE: Both sides done, no complications. Drives much smoother, almost perfect. Next is tie rods, inner and outer.

Thank you immensely for this video. You just save me over $250 from having this repair done at the Cadillac dealership. I found the OEM AC Delco bearing assembly (a two pack for both front drive axle’s), for $188 and free shipping on eBay. From the looks of this video it took you about an hour to disassemble and reassemble the one side which is all that’s wrong with mine. The Cadillac dealership quoted me $536 to replace the one like shown in your video. What a rip off!!! They also found that my front rotors were heat checked and warped apparently from the previous owner riding the brakes. $336 to turn to rotors. I don’t know how they can quotethese prices with a straight face. Again thank you so much for this video!

I watched your vid because I had to change the hub and bearing assembly. I got all the way down to where the hub should come off. Yours came off so easily but mine is on there to stay it looks like. I really I got the three bolts out and they are really hard to get out. I have an electric (with a cord) that seems to gain weight the longer I use it. I tried using it on the 3 hub bolts but after I got one of the lower ones out with no problem. I tried the other low e r one and the when I pushed the trigger the socket came off the bolt and the impact wrench threw the socket completely across my 3 car garage. Long and short I couldn't get the hub off and tomorrow I'm getting a pulle r. Is there any other way to get theassembly off?

Good video I'm not sure what year dts this is but on my 06 theres actually a hole inside where the hub goes and what you have to do is take apart the connector slide the wires thru then put it back together on the other side [it's going to be in the upper part 2 o'clock position] I looked at few videos people running the cable thru the axle and getting the abs light!

why didn't you torque the bolts and hub nut?
@CarRepairsMadeEasy18 жыл бұрын
Most people do not have aTorque wrench that will do 150+ lbs sitting in their garage. These videos are for the home repair, not professional technicians with all the tools at their disposal. you are correct, we should torque, but in an at home situation, probably not feeseable for most
@squirlnutsbigsack48642 жыл бұрын
@@CarRepairsMadeEasy1 those hub bearings establish the bearings preload via axle nut torque. If you dont use the correct torque value the preload is wrong and the bearing is doomed to an incredibly short service life. It is the single most valuable torque specification in the entire job and the only one that cannot be overlooked. The average home mechanic is by far better off borrowing or buying a torque wrench than endlessly replacing untit bearings that should easily achieve 100k miles or better. So no, the good n tight method isn't acceptable on this job period.

It's funny how nobody with an impact drill EVER listens to the cv axle mfr's advice to NOT use an impact to torque down the driveaxle retaining nut as it shocks the outer cv joint and can cause premature failure☠☠☠
