Worked like a charm! Had a mobile locksmith, make a new key, and immediately after these lights came on, apparently, from the newer scanner, he had hooked up to make the chip key. Fixed my problem. Thank you so much!

Thank you for this! Especially for the explanation! I took my car in for an oil change, and the VSC light was on when they were done. When I brought it back, the mechanic said, "It has NOTHING to do with the oil change" then he attempted to reset it with his scanner and said, "there are no codes, so there isn't anything I can do" he packed up his scanner and walked in the building. I won't be going back. I am so glad I found this video, as it explains why it happened AND how to fix it, which I did.

Helping those that are pausing through the video in a tight pin space. This worked for me once you get the pins loaded. 1a - turn ignition on 1b - short pins together until abs turns on 1c - turn ignition off 2a - turn ignition on 2b - wait for trac lights to turn off 2c - immediately turn off ignition 3a - short and hold pins together 3b - turn on 3c - wait for simultaneous ABS and trac lights to flash 3d - turn ignition off 3e - remove clips 4a - test!

Worked perfectly for me. Discount Tire glitched my ECU when they went to plug in their OBD widget to reset my TPMS sensors on my 2004 4Runner. They had no idea what they did so they couldn't fix it. All better now.

Thank you for this information. Following your step by step procedures really worked. I connected up a scanner tool (not OBD) and when it was disconnected both my VSC lights were on. (no other lights) So I taped your video, took it to my car (2003 Toyota 4 runner Sport 4.7 V8) and watched it as I followed the steps to reset the lights. It worked right off the back. Thank you for saving me $$$$$ Now the other question, will I be able to use the other scanner or will it cause this problem again? Thanks

Cause the abs modules are completely different , not all Abs systems are the same the 2003-2009 4Runners module is completely different then the 2002 , also the pins may be different .

If i have a P0333 error code, knock sensor high bank 2. Lol i have watched this video so many times i have almost memorized the process. So first time i used this it worked perfectly for 1000+ miles then had work done recently and had to do this again. Now about 400 miles later it popped again. Any thoughts? Replacement of knock sensor is 2000+$ and a few people have told me it is not likely the knock sensor. When i take it to the mechanic they clearly want to replace the knock sensor, being a 2-3 thousand dollar job. Any advice would be awesome.

You can try it and see if it works , but with the brake light being on you may have other issues

Attempted this about 20 times After the step where you tap 4 times and turn the ignition to off. I turn it back on at wait 15+ seconds and the lights do not go away. I attempted to continue and move on to holding both prongs together and watch for both lights to flash quickly.. No reaction at all just all ABS VSC TRAC and VCS OFF remains on.

It works on my 4Runner 2007… but after I run it for 1 or 2 mins the lights will pop up again.. what else should i do? FYI : I also have my brake light on but that one will come off with the ABS VSC and track off lights when I do this procedure.

My sienna had these lights and prevented me rom shifting. I verified that my brake lights were not turning on. They were not. I bought a new brake light switch for $20 and replaced it. I was immediately able to shift and lights turned off.

It’s not the same problem , that is where you are wrong , my issue had nothing to do with a brake light switch , that is the issue with people they think they know what they are talking about , you had no brake lights and the car would not come out of park , that is a no brainer the brake switch also controls locking tab for the shifter and the brake lights , that’s is why u had no light when pressing the brakes and you could not get the car out of park , this problem is not the same I had brake lights and was able to the the car out of park , my issue occurred cause of a faulty scanner .

I have a ‘08 4Runner and when I try this procedure my ABC, VHC and traction control lights don’t do what you describe. My check engine and other lights come on and disappear with the short. My check engine light was never on before doing this for the record.

This procedure is only for cars that have these lights on cause of the OD2 scanner , I stated in the videos that if you have actual issues with the vehicle this will not work
