My early-mid 2000's Ford F-150 was the tits. Black with a matching cap I black tinted also. Bought an air mattress at Walmart one night...perfect fit! That was my summer slam truck. A cop pulled up one time as I was parked behind some store and poked around. He just kept smirking while we tried to put our shoes and stuff back on and the last thing he said after he told us to enjoy our evening was, where'd I get that mattress, and what size was it. He had the same truck lol. I'm assuming it was a twin, but it fit like a glove! I even used it when I worked nights and had a break. A nice nap in the middle of my shift!? Yes please, you got any overtime??

I have a 2006 4R 4.7 V-8 with only 122,000 miles. It is senior driven with never smoke, kids, pets, etc. in the vehicle. I've never waxed it, but the paint job looks as good as new. It has never been wrecked, towed or abused in any way. There has been only one unscheduled repair, a seeping thermostat housing, with 0 down time other than this minor repair. I've spent less than $3,000 over 14 years for the usual stuff: Struts, brakes, rotors, plugs, timing belt, water pump, power steering flush, transmission fluid change and coolant flush when scheduled. Of course there has been the usual gas, oil, tires, & battery. My mechanic states that the vehicle is better and easier to work on than brand new, and lusts after that V-8. I've owned dozens of vehicles, including fleet vehicles, but none has even come close to this thing. I will keep it until one of us dies, and I wouldn't bet against this 4R.

Ha, nearly the same thing for me too. Owned since 118k, now at 160k. Same thing with the repairs, all scheduled besides the thermostat housing. God bless the v8. I would recommend taking the hydro carbon filter out (many how tos online). I dont know if it adds power but the motor sounds and acts happier.

I've owned a 98 SR5, 02 Sport, 06 Limited V8 , 07 Sport, and 19 TRD Off Road Premium. Not necessarily in that order. These are great trucks and hold their resale well. The "secret compartment" in the 4th gens are basically for the owners manual folder , as it fits in there perfectly. I use the fold out front part of the center armrest for burgers when Im on the go. Don't forget about the main 4th Gen feature: RELIABILITY.
@breeze787
@breeze787 4 жыл бұрын
We owned one of these 4th gen and bought it brand new. The smell of the brand new plastic was so strong that it lasted over a year and a half. This was a real smooth riding vehicle and going on long rides is what this 4th gen loves to do. When we traded it in 10 years later the only trouble we had was a relay for the air conditioner. Your black 4th gen looks fantastic thanks for putting this up.

I also love being able to program all of my gate/garage door openers into the rear-view mirror console. No more fumbling through the center console. Then there's the fact that the rear area with the back seats folded down flat leaves a footprint that matches a "full size" mattress (except for the wheel wells); a futon mattress fits perfectly for bringing the girl camping, and folds nicely back into the rear section. leaving the back seats for gear and food. ....sorry, I meant beer and food.

I totally agree about the drive through the mountains, absolutely stunning. My point was weighing all the options on how to travel from Toronto to Vancouver (Rail, drive or fly). Flying is by far the quickest, cheapest and safest). Driving statistically is the least safest regardless where you’re going. In fact, I love that drive so much that I once flew from Ontario to Calgary and drive the rest of the way (to Chilliwack). Beautiful

Not that I have anything against flying. I understand where you are coming from. I will do it too if it is a quick trip. However, if there is time, money and the spirit.. the adventure.. the fun..

@@SCU3A_S7EVE I think the speakers were only back there if your model came with the "upgraded" JBL Synthesis stereo. Otherwise I think all from 03-09 had mirrors.

My personal favorite are the mirrors on the insides of the D-pillars intended for you to see around your blind spot when parked from looking in the rear view mirror. This was before reversing cameras were mandated.

Cool features, Im shopping for a 4th gen. Was planning on building a sleep platform in the back but maybe the folded seat with an air mattress on top would do the trick.

Nice video!! Although I knew all of these because I read my owner's manual(lol) I thought I'd add a few more if you don't mind. Spare keys, buy a blank with a program chip in it from eBay for approx. 10-15 bucks. You can look up youtube videos on how to program it yourself for free, get the key cut for another 3 to 5 bucks and you have a spare key for under $20. I own a 2005 4Runner and it does not have a switch to turn off traction control. Do yourself a favor and buy the 2006 or newer model so you can turn off traction control when necessary. I own the V6 4.0L which I wanted moreso than the V8 for several reasons; 1) the V6 has a timing chain and the V8 has a belt that needs to be changed 2) the V8 only has minimal amount of horsepower(270) over the V6(245) and gets worse gas mileage. I find the V6 to be very powerful and I run Toyo MTs 255/75/17 for digging in the snow and mud. Doesn't ride bad on pavement. I can program all of my windows to go up or down at the same time. The 2005 model V6 has the easiest oil filter change out in the world and changing your oil with this vehicle takes only minutes, and my 2005 4Runner is a better rig in the mountains for 4x4ing than my 2008 200 series Land Cruiser because it is lighter than the Land Cruiser, has a narrower body and lower center of gravity, and has .2 inches more ground clearance. I've got 200k miles on my 2005 4runner and it's still kicking!!!

I have an '05 as well and hate not being able to turn off traction control. it's overly intrusive, especially in the rain.

you can program all the windows to go down at the same time? i haven't heard of that! gonna have to read into it. i've got an 04 v8 sport edition & the gas mileage does suck. love everything else about it though! 197k miles. bought it at 185k & had to do some normal maintenance on it but runs better than any car i've ever been in.

Great job on this video! I'm looking for a 4th GEN 4 RNR now, and hoping to trade my 2007 Highlander for the upgrade. Did you do a lot of work on this vehicle, because it's squeaky clean! I see a few aftermarket options mostly lighting. Would love to find one this clean!

Seats reclining to meet with the rear seat, level bed. Reminds me of my Rambler back in the early '60s. Dad's didn't want their daughters going out an a date if the Rambler was the means of transportation. My '62 also had separate AC/Heater controls for driver and passenger. Made it nice for your lady to be comfortable without you burning up. I do wish my Trail had that, it has everything else.
