It's odd, I'm subscribed to all the major car channels - Most have slick production, editing and unreal cars but for some reason I look forward to these uploads as much as any. It's nice to see a car channel that's relatable to a normal person, not just yet another KZbinr financing a supercar (still time though!).
@anthonyfell777 жыл бұрын
Dead right. Real people, spannering and tracking their own cars. Miles better than watching a yawn inducing supercar walkaround. Those videos are about owning things. These videos are about driving. I know that this will be scant consolation for Danny but videos that have things going wrong in them, the genuine trials and tribulations of working on your own car, also makes this channel so much more real and watchable than most.
@Salad_Dodger777 жыл бұрын
I like the fact he isn't trying to be someone he's not. Just a regular guy who loves cars. I think his content is great. I always look forward to his next video. He strikes me as the type of guy who would rather a Honda/Scooby/Skyline/M3 over a supercar. Supercars bore me to be honest. Taking something like an affordable Type-R and making it faster, better and simply enjoying it has huge appeal.

Was the diff serviced by Matt when the gearbox went in to be sorted? Just throwing out an idea that it may be worn plates allowing more slip and not giving you the desired effect you're used to. I was going to suggest the change to smaller wheels being a factor but you mentioned it felt a bit strange at Oulton.

I don't know how sensitive the DC2 is to track width changes, but widening the front will affect the scrub radius and may introduce the understeer as the suspension geometry has changed. Try widening the rear to match, and alter the front springs.
@desertmanification7 жыл бұрын
Neal Lewis increasing rear track width would be likely to cause more understeer rather than reducing it.
@neallewis17 жыл бұрын
Adam Bayliss point is the wheel spacers have likely caused the increased understeer. Changes need to be made to dial it out. Bringing the track width ratio back to how it was is prior to the new front spacers was the aim of the suggestion to increase rear track.

Could you try a similar metal bleeder valve to that if the calipers? Aluminum expands faster than steel, I would guess that it creates enough space for fluid to leak out. Just a thought.

I've got a brake bias valve in my track day toy, and from all the way in to all the way out it goes from locking the fronts to locking the rears, sounds like your "comp brake" valve is fooked get it changed.

@craigyt867 жыл бұрын
ayup Danny, not sure if its been said in the other comments but seen as you have lost all the weight from the doors etc, have you thought about changing the spring rates on the front? with you saying its understeering, pushing the front, it may be down to the springs being too firm. im guessing the coilovers are specced for a full interior car? also to help with the brakes, you need the same compound pads front and rear. i had a lengthy conversation with EBC about this. having compounds that work the same will stop the brakes changing from front to back with the heat build up.
@Pstar4677 жыл бұрын
Great channel, sucks to see about the brake issues. I know a few S2000 guys in australia with the spoon calipers and they have had that issue with it leaking from the bleeder valves. It seems to be a common issue with the spoon calipers if they're driven hard.

Am I mistaken in my memory that you were running 225 R888's up front prior, with the 205 RSR's in the rear? I can imagine that would affect turn in and understeer tremendously. On a side note, Josh's car rotates beautifully. It seems like such a mild setup, but it does so well.

Awesome video, shame about the Teg being weird. I would change that bias for sure, also maybe change all the nipples for aluminium ones to see if they expand at the same rate as the ali calipers, possibly making it air tight, no loss? Buy yourself a Sealey VS0208 Brake Fluid Bleeder 12V, expensive I know, but great to bleed brakes when at tracks/The Ring, no relying on anyone else. Possibly a Geo set up is needed after sitting around for a bit being jacked up and down with bits coming off and on? What with the Ring trip, I would try and check everything. Good luck dude. Have fun. Stay safe.

I'm sure you will get it sorted mate, that's half the problem with doing so many new modifications to your car in the one go - it's hard to identify which could be causing the problem. It is suspicious that the brake bias valve does nothing no matter which way you turn it, so definitely change that first and hopefully that will sort the brakes. As for the understeer issue, i remember you saying in one of your earlier blogs that you had to fit spacers to fit the front wheels which will widen the track and screw up your geo, need to get it re-set up afterwards if you have not done already. Also although the car weighs the same as before (920kg), you have removed the large OEM fuel tank from the rear and the doors, changing the cars weight distribution, also lighter wheels for lower unsprung mass. Perhaps a good geo set up and corner weighting before you go to the ring? Best of Luck!

@bryanwalker7 жыл бұрын
DannyDC2 it's a bit naughty to slag a company and a product off just because you don't have the time to fuck about and because you have heard stuff about their customer service. It's like me saying I've heard all Teg dc2 owners are girls who can't drive because I heard someone say that. You said you thought it was shit before fitting it and had loads of issues fitting it but still used it. You're brake calipers are leaking which will mean the are taking air in so the bias valve won't work properly with air in the brake lines anyway. Hope you get it sorted either way mate speed and moody brakes is never a good combo lol
@dannyDC27 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is a bit naughty I guess but I don't want to have to mute my opinions on things just because we're on a public domain. If something is shit then its shit, and I've had nothing but problems with that bias valve. If you asked me in real life what I though, I'd tell you its shit. Josh and Joe both had the same bias valve too and had issues, unfortunately I'd already bought mine so I thought I'd give it a go as it owed me £40. For reference the Titlon valve was £105... I guess you get what you pay for. What's interesting is the amount of people who have messaged me since I posted this video sharing their experiences with Compbrake products. It would seem they have a name for producing low quality tat like this, but charging close-to premium prices for them.
@bryanwalker7 жыл бұрын
DannyDC2 lol am not saying mute you're opinion am just saying give the company a chance instead of just slagging them off. Did you go to town slagging Honda off when you're fuel tank fell off? End of the day it's a worldwide company supplying high quality motorsport parts. If there were that many issues no one would buy there stuff and they would go out of business. I mean a lot of the time it's the parts aren't fitted correctly causing issues. Again good luck with you're brakes etc
