The stuff like Cicero actually makes sense to be honest. Perhaps you haven't read military theory? Both eastern AND western war philosophers acknowledged that war is merely policy by other means. In a republic setting like Rome, if you get the support from a influential politician that you should be able to get new barracks and all from the motherland Rome and from the support of the senate to give you better things in your army.

Recently i've been reading a novel series called "Marius Mules", about Caesar's campaign in Gaul. Naturally, i wanted to live the battles more than just on paper. Thanks for a great review, i didn't know if this dlc is worth or not.

Well I'm sorry you don't have Preatorians in the Gallic Campaigns... That's the point. Caesar's Legions were VETERANS!!!! Veterans... They are supposed to be relatively the same and are supposed to be really skilled

DarrenTotalWar Yes you do, but everyone has to start somewhere, and this is a pretty great start you've got going on! There were still some clips that lingered for a little too long imo, but they were all relevant and there were a lot of different clips without it feeling overwhelming or to fast.

Great Review, at this point, with them experimenting with the politics and adding seasons among other new aspects i almost feel as tho Rome 2 is a way to test new implementations to the game. I think, hope, they will collaborate all the things that worked in the game and make Medieval total war 3!! I think this would be a truly remarkable game.
@RepublicOfPlay11 жыл бұрын
One can dream, I prefer the Roman era so it's a shame they didn't get to do that with this game. But I would love a med 3.
@Kerbalf11 жыл бұрын
DarrenTotalWar Not having played Shogun and being the only guy ever who liked Empire (I had my share of problems but I had tons of fun with it) I'd love a Med 3. However it'd be cool if they explored other time periods. Maybe even prehistoric stuff.
@antoniohinojos380811 жыл бұрын
Kerbalf ohhh, shit son.. never even thought of that, itd be epic haha, but did they have large scale wars like that'? lol i'd love it if they expanded on what they played with in med 2, the whole aztec period, they could open that wide up. lol

Ive been trying to manipulate the AI and complete certain significant battles and political researching during the seasons and years that Caesar did. Needing to research Marc Antony first seemed ridiculous though. Antony didn't even join Caesar in Gaul until 54 bc. He was a cavalry commander in Spain until then. Titus Labienus was Caesar's general of note early on. Caesar's daughter was already married to Pompey by the time this dlc starts. Silk and olive trade was already underway as well. The political chain is kind of ridiculous

Is empire divided a good one? I saw some gameplays and I like it. What do you guys think? Edit I own all dlc and still think imperaror Augustus is the best. Then empire divided and then CIG together with HATG.

The Menapii did some great resistance against Caesar. Caesar didn't attack the Batavi (German tribe that is not in Gaul). A campaign in that area was not alowed from the senate.

Nice review! I found agents to be the most annoying thing in this dlc - Caesar was wounded for more time than he was alive and most of my cities buildings were smoking ruins, which pretty much made me stop playing. Also did you have to face some kind of Gallic rebellion at any point? all my previously very happy cities suddenly had full enemy stacks pop up outside them midway through the game.
@RepublicOfPlay11 жыл бұрын
I never encountered a full on rebellion actually, just a massive confederation where all the remaining tribes joined eachother, a few turns later the germans did the same and then they both allied with eachother, so it was Rome vs pretty much everyone.

I want to buy the game, but is it still buggy and poorly optimized?
@RepublicOfPlay10 жыл бұрын
It is still poorly optimized, but not really buggy anymore. I dunno if they'll ever improve this. It seems that for me at least, battles with multiple full armies and a city, tend to slow down significantly. Probably is worth getting it right now though as it's 50% off and won't be lower than that for a long time.
@playeraj9610 жыл бұрын
DarrenTotalWar As far as I know, their are a few mods that help optimize it, and I just want to be able to run it. I don't have a great computer but it fits the specs and I was able to run shogun 2, not on maxed out settings, but on medium/high and I hear that Rome 2 is actually a step down

@ryananderson496111 жыл бұрын
Awesome I might have to get this game now. Big fan of the Total War series.
@NarwhalMasterr10 жыл бұрын
Ryan Anderson Also there are some mods that help fix other small issues, like having fire at will for infantry with javelins and having the pikemen start the game with their pikes. Also, there was a mod that made the cavelry have better textures and one that made the campaign water a lot prettier or gave mobs stones to throw (makes it a little more epic) and one where the camera can zoom in and out more. You could get some of the bigger overhaul mods, but I haven't got any experience with those :( Plus mod support is great on this game. That is one thing reviewers generally forget. The game now has Steam workshop support, which means installing the mods can be done with the press of one button. And with CA pumping out more patches, the game probably will get better soon. I hope after the glaring issues have been fixed, they will move on to fixing smaller issues, since removing a ton of small problems would greatly improve the overall experience.
