Sucks that Rene fell out of love with wrestling at that time I'm sure he would have done big things in the fake ECW if he was given support... I remember WWE did a fan poll on their website on who would be the new star of ECW and Rene won convincingly ahead of CM Punk and Test

So true guys Stevie Richards is truly underrated and helped set the feud up between Tommy and Raven by bringing in Beulah and they talked about the backstory and the revenge they had planned for Tommy Dreamer...I remember when Stevie was doing guest commentary for one match on Sunday Night Heat (a.k.a Stevie Night Heat lol) in 2003 when La Resistance early on in their formation the tag team of Rene and Sly after they won the World Tag Team titles faced up against a young Tyson Dux and young Bobby Roode who were working as enhancement talent, Stevie was acting as the self-proclaimed General Manager of Heat and said he gave Tyson and Bobby a title shot when it was actually a non-title match. Coach and Al Snow pointed it out then Stevie claimed he changed the stipulation by saying 'now I say it's a title match', then proceeding to tell Coach that as the GM of Heat he was thinking about suspending him because of the comments Coach made about Stevie's pink tights lol. Stevie was very supportive of La Resistance on commentary, really talked up their athleticism, their championship status and their beautiful physiques lol a lot of love and appreciation being shown to the World Tag Team champions from a fellow mischievous heel. When Rene and Sly won the match Stevie ran into the ring and to Al Snow and Coach it looked like he was going to attack them because of how quickly he got to the ring but he just went to congratulate Rene and Sly with incredible excitement and was really happy for them like he was their No. 1 fan, he gave them the traditional French greeting and left the ring clapping giving them the thumbs up they looked at him like he was crazy which sell his wacko Stevie gimmick that WWE gave him at the time alongside his GM of Heat persona.

I really enjoy James as cohost. He not only does his research, but he also prods Rene into giving longer answers and he even calls out Rene if he's acting moody but does it with a laugh. And he gets Rene to laugh a lot. You guys have excellent chemistry and I hope you two stay a team for a very long time. I like Rene a whole hell of a lot but these early podcasts you can tell he doesn't want to do it and James is able to coax him into giving a great performance in the end. That's why CDR still exists and continues to grow and grow. Its cause Rene and James work off each other.

The ironic thing is Punk carries himself as this wrestlers' wrestler who hates politics whenever he does interviews and is on social media.

Honestly man it would be a different story if he didn't get his ass handed to him in UFC but that just reinforces that he is not a believable strength or brawler wrestler, not that athletic for a smaller guy so what does he have except mic skills? There are guys like Stevie Richards who were in better shape than Punk of a similar build and was taller, and Stevie was decent on the mic but they only ever kept him in the mid-card at best. There are a lot of guys who deserved similar opportunities to Punk but I guess they'll even admit that's on them why they never got any further. Meanwhile you had Punk very early on in his WWE career at the Fake ECW with plants in the crowd chanting his name, goes to show the office will get over anyone they want to in particular. It is what it is, things like this eventually led Punk to the path of having as good of a career as he did when plenty also deserved that spot and others in that conversation are arguably better could have done just as well and could have drawn more for the company but I don't know, if Punk came to WWE a few years before he may have been jobbed out and released before he even got the chance to shine, he came to the company at the right time to get his push imo. I don't know what else to say, I don't want to sound like I'm bashing the dude but these are some of my thoughts.

BTW, we should do a watch along of Heroes of Wrestling....A friend of mines ordered it back in the late 90's and man, it was so bad that it was actually funny and Jake Roberts mumbling in the background commentating on playing cards segment....Priceless...lol

It's really funny now in 2023 and I'm noticing now that wherever CM Punk goes, he appoints himself as the locker room leader. Bro Punk will never be a locker room leader of any promotion he can try as hard as he can or blow somebody for that position but he's never going to be a locker room leader.

I like to think even though its still fucked up that Sabu took a dose as a prep for the match. So he could work without feeling it as hard. God knows these ECW originals put themselves through shit when Heyman owned it. And I'm thinking Sabu lost a payday cause he overshot his tolerance. Saying that having being post surgery and realising how willing doctors are to prescribe "the good shit" to you without long term thought. Be careful with that relief its easy to hit a slippery slope on it if your not disciplined

Bob Holly's too scared to come on the podcast I'm sure Rene wouldn't mind he's a straight talker and will not hold anything back if he wants to say something he will without worrying about the consequences now unlike being under contract in WWE where you had to watch your step against veterans especially if you're new and very young or risk losing your job this is his playground now and he calls the shots in Cafe de Rene that's if Holly is willing to be confronted and called out for all the bullshit he put him and so many other guys in the locker room through just because he was a Grade A dick at the time and had to bust on people quite literally just so he can make himself feel better back then
