The owner of these cars is a man of culture and taste. He could have bought Ferraris, or McLarens, but spent it like a proper bloke on some sub zero bespoke cars. I like it.

He doesn't actually. We've built four cars for him. He has a good few others but absolutely nothing you'd call a supercar. I think the closest he has to something like that is an old AMG C63 507 edition. Everything else is old and cool

These cars were the "every man" car, it doesn't make them less appealing or even less collectable, there is a picture of me with my brother and my cousin i am about a year old sitting on the roof of a Cortina MK1, it had a Lotus engine, but wasn't a Lotus Cortina, my dad told me later, that car scared him... i am still fascinated by the rear light cluster. beautiful.

Beautiful work from the Retropower crew. That two door Mk1 "Corti" reminds me of a Mk1 GT500 that a mate of mine owned back in 1968, we used to compete in Rally events, such a nice little car that went like a scalded cat.
@stephenscholes47584 жыл бұрын
You must be Aussie...those gt500'S were (partly) built by Craig Lowndes dad
@gazzafloss4 жыл бұрын
@@stephenscholes4758 correct, and an old Aussie. I did think that the GT500 was unique to Australia. It was a great little beast but the body structure weaknesses showed up pretty quickly on some of the Rally forest trails. Didn't know about the connection with Lowndes's dad... every day's a school day.

4 dislikes? Seriously? How the hell anyone can dislike the work these guys do is beyond me.😖 I love this Cortina. My 1602 BMW is much the same in a lot of ways, albeit built on about a tenth of the budget and more a DIY build. The ethos and look is much the same though. I just need a lotto win to have RP build me another. 😀

You can appreciate the skill and work but not admire the choices made in terms of colour, stance, trim etc...for instance I absolutely love the mechanicals of their Cortina but not such a fan of it's overall "look" - too boy-racer...the Murray Escort is great because it is soooo understated

Fitting a full roll cage to my 105E made a huge difference in body stiffness, as beforehand jacking up one corner I had to really yank (jerk) the door open and not a hope of getting it closed again. With cage fitted ALL the flex was gone and best of all was a lap of Kyalami nearly 2seconds up when I raced there in the early ‘70s. Umbrella brake handle.

Nice, like the way they have used alternative, yet Ford parts for this essentially unique Cortina! I reckon tho' I would probably want a shorter gearstick! And a very clean funnel to fill those fluid reservoirs, so as not to strip the paint in that lovely engine bay. love the suspension mods, subtle, but radical! Sierra disks on the rear with Fiesta MK2 front calipers. Lovely! Nice explanation about the original door skin cap ,and new sheet metal lower! Likin' it!

Such a perfectly built car. I wish we had gotten these cars in the US. But..... every time I see the front, those spot weld dimples in the front valance instantly draw my eyes away from the perfection of everything else. I groaned a bit when you said it was going to run without bumpers. I have to assume it was a choice to leave that area untouched.

Good morning, once again, beautiful paint work. Is that waterborne basecoat system or petroleum basecoat. It really looks great. The upgraded chassis and suspension is extremely fascinating. These cars at the Goodwood races are quite impressive. They manhandle a lot more horsepower with finesse and style. Thanks for the great video. Can't wait for more. Take care.
