Oh, and a tip for bathing Pippin, lay down a rag before filling the sink with water. It'll give him some grip so he won't be scrabbling around.

I have heard that those kinds of balls are bad for hedgehogs cause they can get there feet stuck. Is this true? Btw you really helped me with getting information about hedgehogs so thank you!!

Yay! Always happy to help! And I have never heard of issues with them before nor have I ever come across problems! I've had two hedgies before and they both have loved running around in them! I would say that I would keep your eye on them and keep their nails short and dull and they should be fine! :-)

very much agree! My male hedgie's nails do not really grow (never really did, nothing compared to my first hedgehog's nail growth...) so he isn't really an issue, and my new female's nails are trimmed regularly. I do keep up with the feces in the ball, checking every 30 min or o to remove anything loose as well as a good deep clean when they are finished roaming about! :-)

crystal girl2439 I would recommend baths only about once a month! But weekly foot baths are okay! You just don’t wanna dry their skin out too much!

brother sister invasion I mean hedgehogs only need them really once every 3 weeks to a month because they are prone to dry flaky skin. Foot baths are good to give regularly though if they have a dirty feet problem!

Brother sister invasion you should locate a USDA licensed breeder, depending on where you live. Trustful breeders can be hard to find, just keep looking!

Animal Adventures hedgies don't really need that big of cages if they have a proper wheel! They don't really run around their cage too much but the bigger the car the better don't get me wrong! I would love to have a bigger one for him if I had the personal room but this one would be the smallest proper one you should go. :/ just always provide a wheel if it's a smaller size. 4x4 is quiet late.

Liv Chambliss I really don't want to be mean but this would be illegal in my country. 2m2 is the minimum!! size the cage should be. If you don't believe and maybe are interested in that, I could send you a link to the official papers of my country where you can find all that. A running wheel doesn't replace an interesting cage....just think about how sad it is for a hedgehog to run all night on that wheel. But what else could he do?? @Animal Adventures please please get a cage that is big enough...

Traum Welt I promise this cage is of proper size. I’m not sure what your countries rules and regulations are and their reasonings, although when I let my hedgehogs run around my room frequently, they actually prefer to go to the wheel I set out and run on that. They are both very happy and healthy and show no signs of environmental distress. They have room to move around in their cage just fine, run on their wheel, as well as burrow to sleep(which they do with the majority of their time anyway!) :-)

Can hedgehogs have sand baths?? When I had my hamsters they would use a sand bath because hamsters can't have water baths. Obviously hamsters and hedgehogs aren't the same animal but as hedgehogs have water baths are sand baths unsafe or are they just not needed because they have water baths?
