This is an underrated, but decidedly awesome begginer bike.

Would you do a little touring on this bike?

+Ricardo Murillo I already have. I did the 1000 km break-in within a week of buying it. I went all over the top part of New Zealand's north island (I live in Auckland). I did 600 km open road in one go at one stage, only stopping occasionally to pee and eat. The power is more than sufficient and the riding position is comfortable. My only gripe is the lack of wind protection. It's acceptable by my standard but sometimes the headwind makes for a very annoying ride. The R3 would probably have more in terms of wind protection but I personally hate the looks of a fully faired bike, not to mention the pains you'd go through removing the fairings for maintenance, that's why I bought this. The three upgrades I'm getting soon are: 1. A bigger screen, 2. Frame sliders, and 3. A tidy tail kit. The upgraded screen should eliminate the niggles of headwind riding and make touring a whole lot more fun.

+P1015532oni my girl Didn't like the pillion seat on the R3 for some reason, so I might just do the same. Hopefully I'll be able to find some good aftermarket wind protection

They certainly look like a great bike. Just wondering... How buzzy are they in top gear doing 100kmph? :-)
@P1015532oni
@P1015532oni 8 жыл бұрын
Not buzzy at all bro. At 100km/h, top gear, the revs are only at 6500 rpm. And redline is at 12500. 6500 rpm is not even close to it's maximum power yet (at 9000-ish rpm) so there is no strain. Just a comfy cruise. And everyone who's ridden my bike comments on how smooth it is. But then again different people have different standards and the best way for you to judge for sure is do a test ride. I did and I fell in love with the MT03's engine and everything that's in it.

Just got mine for a month now after watching your video . It reminds me of my old TZR250 2stroke bike full fairing. This is better n lighter. Just like you've said agile, fun, very easy and many more. Here in Singapore we don't have a test bike like you do. We have to buy to know how it feels like. I love this bike compared to all the bike and scooters I owned before. No regrets.

I love these little bikes not because of the low price, but because you can rag the living crap out of the bike and still be within or close to legal speeds. For a rider like me that's moving from a 125 to a bigger bikes, they are awesome.

Can you? What is it, 6s to 100? Not exactly within legal speeds in most places lol. And it probably takes 2-3 more seconds to take you to illegal speeds on any roads including highways.

Where I'm living right now almost all the decent bikes cost 2x their normal price due to ridiculous taxes, but this one is sold at the right price and it's tempting as hell. Especially with the ABS which is a life-saving feature here. Been riding a Yamaha FZ150 for a year and overall I'm very happy with it but this video makes me wanna buy the MT 03 so much :D

Great review... if you're new to motorcycle riding, how long would it take to outgrow this type of bike? If you're doing mainly rural riding... I love Yamaha... even the SR400 is nice, but I do tend to like the classic bikes, but this MT03 looks cool too. Looks like a Transformer symbol on it haha

thank you for reviewing this bike. Which one would you recommend, the MT-03 or the TNT 300? considering money is not an issue. I have to choose between the mt03 and the tnt300. some people told me that i should stay away from the benelli tnt300 because it is chinese and quality is it not top notch .( Ive already watched your video reviewing the tnt300) On the other hand, the yamaha is a bike that wont depreciate as much as the benelli will tho, and it is lighter, faster and reliable ( from what Ive been told) I would Appreciate your advice. Best Regars

Hello +Christopher Saa... I agree with that people... Stay away of the Benelli TNT. A friend of me got a brand new TNT 250 last year, he sold it after a few months because poor quality, engine issues, suspension and electrical issues... I would go for the MT03, actually I did it :)

2017 MT-03 or 2017 Duke 390? The MT-03 is a bit cheaper, and a twin. The Duke has ride by wire throttle, slipper clutch, Colour TFT screen, single cylinder, LED headlights... I've been riding motorcycles for about 25+ years, but I need to get a new, cheap, economical commuter.

boas Cager. Obrigado e boas voltas

I went to the MT event that took place in Athens and I was stunned by this bike ! There was a guy who drove this and the mt-07 and he said to me "I will buy this (the mt-03) , it has everything I need ..." I couldn't ride it because I don't have A2 license but I wanted to test it soooo bad ! I would also buy MT-03 if I could , it has enough power and you can have fun with it . In my opinion buying a naked bike that is over 700 is pointless , I 've heard that the windblasts over 150 km/h are very very strong so you won't be able to have that much fun at high speeds and I would say that the power goes wasted . So , Mt-03 for me... It has all the power I need and I can have fun with ,riding position and comfy seat , I can even do trips on it , it has good fuel consumption , 5.250 euro with ABS , It's a Yamaha (duh) ... I heard Cager complaining about the brakes and it bothers me because I wasn't able to test them but it can't be that bad , can it ?

Michellin Pilot Street IS really good.. I just changed my tires few months ago and i feel like really planted to the asphalt, really good grip at cornering! also the bias ply were pretty cheap, really a much better choice than IRC Road Winner (price about the same)...

I totally hate the tires on it... i think they are really shitty. My last bike had Dunlop GPR300 and you could ride them to the absolute limit and they would never slide. The ones on the MT03 just feel really slippery when you push them. Next plan on the MT03 is switching the 140 in the back to a 150 Continental Roadattack 3.

@@jeremycubs8331 I am stuck under LAMS licence or in Europe its called A2. So it means restricted so can only get 650 or under I would go cb 650r if didn't already have a cruiser. So want a small capacity commuter bike for fun. So mt03 or cb300r. Mt03 twin is not as much vibey due to parallel twin and more power at 321cc, 14L tank but no leds and softer suspension. But the cb300r herd has a nice suspension, smooth ride, IMU abs, LEDS everywhere but smaller tank.. So not sure which to get. I know mt03 2020 will have the updated 2019 R3 suspension, all lcd and leds.

@@dexxeve9420 To be perfectly honest both bikes are meant to be reliable and good investment. It's just a matter of which one do you find to be more comfortable I think, the CB series are quite sporty riding position which I'm not in favour of, too much wrists pressure for me. Just probably get the MT 07 have it restricted and I'm sure you'll be happy with it, I did my test on it and I can honestly say it's very very comfortable bike to sit on.

I test rode the R3 at the Daytona Bike Week and the motor was much too weak off the bottom. My CB500F is much better in that regard; torque. The test ride was a group ride so the lead rider was on a cruiser with much more torque and I had to wind it to the moon annoyingly in traffic to keep catching her after every stop light. My 500F would handle that much better. That being said, it would make a great beginner bike, except for being geared to low that pulling out into traffic is borderline dangerous. I think even new riders need some torque. It can, however be changed with a larger front sprocket.

+Neil Devine That's a good point about pulling out. I've got Ninja 300 and have got completely used to the characteristics, but needing to get away quick from a stop while turning can be awkward, and when I first got the bike, a little hairy. A longer first (and better acceleration) is desireable.
