PLEASE THUMBS UP!!! The rear shock is adjustable. If you adjust the rear suspension to it's max height it makes a huge difference for taller riders. If YAMMIE & SPITE see this and they haven't already don't so, this is a must! My girlfriend is 5.4, I am 6ft, it's night and day from lowest to highest adjustment. If you're heavy does the extra weight not just bring it back to the same height? Remember static say (weight of bike) rider sag (weight of rider) These all have to be set correctly. It's not really a height adjustment. Unless you go full adjustment with a light rider and affectively lock out the suspension.

Nah it's pretty good, it definitely compensates a lot more. And yeah with the mt03 I wouldn't be worried about "correct" suspension settings other than for comfort, it's really not glamorous enough to affect the ride, trust me I've done 10k miles in all types.of scenarios

I got handguards with the metal bars dropped my bike twice since having them no damages. My old bike broke 3 leavers in the first month genuine OEM levers were over 3 X what pattern ones were hated the quality though. I say prevention is better than letting stuff break

I know this is a year old, but I have recently been looking at the mt03 , the z400, and the ninja and it was great to see the upgrades being installed. I am kinda leaning towards the mt03 , I sat on it and it feels good. It's a shorter bike so my wife might like to take it out as well. It was an amazing bike, handled great for what it was, but lacked passing power on the freeway after 80mph which is the only reason I got a bigger bike. I had an absolute blast on it in the canyons. The Dunlops it comes with are decent but I'd upgrade to the Michelin Road series once they're worn out (probably 3-5k depending on how you ride)

Usually I swap out the standard brake lines for steel braided brake lines. And better pads as well.

The experience I've had working on crashed bikes from Copart is those case covers like to bust the bolts out of the case, and axle sliders bend axles when they take a hard enough fall... They're great for parking lot falls though.

So I’ve had my shiny black MT03 for about a month now, and love it. Its super nimble in all maneuvers and no issues getting it up to speed. I’m kind of a small woman (5’5) so the seat height was perfect for me. However my gf (6ft) can also sit comfortably on it so I think it’s more about body type. I’m going to replace the clutch and brake levers but I wanna wait until I break one of them first when that drop happens lol. The only thing I really want to do to this bike, is fix the breaks like Yammie is and give it a better exhaust to sound a bit meaner. It’s a little baby bike lol so the torque isn’t an issue for me.

Just give yourself time casually riding then hit the freeway, I definitely feels like it lacks power however it's a BEGINNER BIKE! I felt decently planted on the freeway and was surprisingly stable. Picked up an MT 03 a month ago and I love this color!Dirt bikes was my life through the teenage years and now at 28 I’m on the street with this beautiful machine. Feels right at home. I’m a 145 lbs and my top speed is 103 so I doubt you’d hit even 100mph after the sprocket change. Thank you for doing this!

If you guys are just getting starting with riding, I recommend joining the discord, there are a bunch of riders in there that can give you good advice and answer the million questions you probably have. It’s a great resource and if you just sacrifice 1 trip to McDonald’s a month you can afford it.

@Yammie Noob I've got a set of T-Rex sliders for my MT-03, but I haven't installed them all yet. What's the torque spec for the bolts used to attach the T-Rex frame sliders and clutch/engine cases? (Instructions from T-Rex just say to use the manufacturer's torque spec but don't say what it is!)

It will be in the service manual. If you can't find an MT-03 service manual (for the 321cc, that is, not the old 660cc one), then try an R3 service manual.

Got a K&N air filter, iridium spark plugs, full exhaust, and ECU remap. Gained 6hp and more torque I think it would be better than a slip on, since it doesn't remove the catalytic converter

Must have cost some of the low end power even if it makes more peak torque. So it's now got 50hp?

@@chrishart8548 Torque was increased in all rotations Has way more grunt in lower rpms That's why having a professional do the remap step by step makes the difference And it makes 48hp. It comes 42hp stock

@@Mooncakebestie I know sometimes it's hp other times it's ps. (Ps is a higher number) With the ninja 400cc they say it's quoted at the wheel. With an A2 license is the 47hp or the 0.2kw/kg at the wheel,/ crank dry weight wet weight ? I had 2 bikes both 500cc twins one was 48hp and the other was 60hp. The 48hp had loads of low down power. The 60hp never really woke up till you got past 7000rpm then it kicked the other bikes ass big time. You can tune an engine to make any HP but it comes at a price! I would be happier now with a 900cc triumph street twin making 54hp. Than a Yamaha R6 making 125hp.
