Love this so much! Recently re-watched all of the series from the beginning. It's still a fantastic show and totally holds up. And they were so fearless with topics, and I mean Everything. Alcoholism, AIDS, drug abuse on the job, date rape, there was nothing controversial they wouldn't take on. And yes, it's so great that they're still friends in real life, that makes me smile :)

I always found her stunningly beautiful as Cagney. And such an interesting role to play. The show respected her ambitions as a career woman, but did not sugarcoat the choices she made like not having kids, not getting married. She didn't "have it all" because the show respected its viewers' intelligence.

Met Sharon a couple of times. Also attended some spiritual/educational workshops in which she was also a participant. Fun and interesting....Never missed an episode of Cagney and Lacey or the opportunity to eat at Musso and Franks alone or with friends.....O the memorie of that whole era. Sharon's book is wonderful! She takes us through all her worries, fears, and conquests... She tells stories of her Hollywood upbringing and education as a Contract Player but the stories seemed to also parallel my own life, Her book really shares her loves, who loved her, the women in her life, the men in her life, the addictions in her life and how she has navigated the waters of all those and still come out a grateful and optimistic person... Really an enjoyable book and made me wish I knew her personally...

In my first apartment in 1988 at age 20 (a crappy cockroach-infested hole in the wall in Anaheim), the only channel we could get on our TV was CBS... and we looked forward to Cagney & Lacey every week. The reception was so bad that it was the only show worth messing with the garbage antenna and tin foil lead attached to it.
