California better get rewarded for the 10 million plus votes we gave Joe Biden.

So question to anyone who knows anything bout road construction/regulations (since I am more on the rail side), why is it that in the US we are so opposed to roundabouts. Like it seems to me that the size of that intersection would be perfect given the traffic flow/density

There’s a great video on why that is the case in America. Basically, Americans think that roundabouts are too complex to navigate and have a terrible history with traffic circles (roundabouts with traffic lights) Here’s the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6LGqoWuj692jsU

I live in a city with two single-lane roundabouts in the downtown area. People don't know how to drive in them even after being in place for 5 years and through traffic on the main street is now far worse than before they were put in.

Honestly the relocation of a street in relationship to the proposed maintenance facilities is not important; but where the maintenance facilities are located actually is of some importance. I've stated before and I'll state it again, the proposed maintenance facilities should be built in the former SP Bayshore Shops location. The site is already zoned industrial use and has a long history of being a maintenance facility, the land is currently owned by Union Pacific, but they don't have any use for the land, making acquisition that much easier.
