Such a unique spot to visit, looks like fun. Thank you for obeying the signs (not every tourist does) 😊

For those people asking why there is not a bridge? During the wet season, this area of Australia receives monsoonal rains, and flooding and infrustructure like roads and bridges, etc, is often destroyed and washed away. The crossing is also in a national park and only receives traffic for about 6 months of the year in the dry season, so the cost would outway the benefits.

I have actually been across that River in a car. Not too bad during the dry season but NEVER ATTEMPT IT DURING THE WET. but DON'T EVER STOP.

Not particularly dangerous if you have local knowledge. For much of each dry season month, the tide doesn’t even reach the crossing. Safe, with care up to about half a metre, if you are in a 4WD, and take it slowly. When there is movement, drive on the opposite side to the direction of the flow. Also important to know where any slight holes are that can affect your progress. Even on the days of highest tides, the crossing is only under water for about two hours. Of course, in the wet season, you can’t get near it. The Magela Creek prevents access from Jabiru except with a boat, and on the Gunbalanya side, the road is under water for perhaps six or seven kilometres.

Why would you build a such a stupid bridge?
@OOTNABOOT1621Ай бұрын
A bridge would be more practical, however it’s really popular and famous around Oz, with a mining operation on the other side…thanks for the comment…🫡

Is not a bridge, it’s known as a causeway , bridges go over water ways Causeways are elevated concrete structure that allow you to drive across a river

Its also more resilient when flooding occurs.

It's a pity that the government doesn't spend money on the roads and bridges to make it safe.
