Remarkable. There's a lot of exploration, appraisal, and learning going on there. i was thinking that Little Sophie would find out that using her beak as a pick would work more efficiently if she turned her head so as not to snag the string, unless she wanted to! And it happened that way around 2:00, and it made me smile. And i totally dig that technique she uses to slide my beak along the string, with the primordial forces of Fretting Claw Style already in the making. But the biggest thing for me as a musician was to observe a contemporary playing, and think about that as seeing and hearing, close and far.

@@limepact our family bird, a sun jenday conure bird came with the name Corona, she was 26 when she passed away. She came with that name, named after the Mexican beer, and a play on the sun's corona for her being half sun conure. She was supposed to be a male. She loved bird videos, despised Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds," loved the Wolverine movie. She surprised us all one day when we found a little conure egg in her bed. I called my family to tell them: "Corona laid an egg!" The response each time was: "Why did he do that?" as everyone was in disbelief. She was a beauty and is sorely missed! She had opinions and hated phone interruptions but always felt compelled to say hello anytime the house phone or a phone on TV rang. She'd follow up with a "a huh, a huh" then finished with an emphatic "Good buy! Good BYE! GOOD BYE!!!!" Like I said, she hated phone interruptions. Birds are such characters and are so dang smart! Nothing like their idea of how your hair should be styled, or their quick removal of a skin blemish. They love to investigate/destroy jewelry, and usually have a couple destruction projects hidden around the house, little cubbies carved into book cases, electrical cord chewing, yup, she got her beak zapped but lived to tell the tale! I miss her so much! She was bigger than life and knew she was all that to us. She preferred to sleep in a doorway between soft sweaters hanging to air dry. My mom would sing a little song to her at bedtime. She would tell us sweet nothings and then fall fast asleep. Those were the days!

Beautiful. Humans work so hard for unnecessary complexity that I find the simplicity of this piece to be calming, while somewhere magnificently maintaining climaxes and melodies throughout. Every note and change in key is significantly more appreciated in its rarity, as are many things in this world. And of course, the parrot brilliantly places similar (but not quite the same) beginning and end technique where the beginning of the song is placed in other structures of the piece for a simple focus; a common and clever working used in music, essays, and numerous works to bring together a pieces. Notice also, the wondrous offsets of just a simple, basic note being played. Throughout what seemingly appears to be plucking a string to the oblivious eye, we notice slight hints of noise produced through the steps of the bird, the after sound of a key as it's just lightly hit at a somewhat novel after tone. We see a whole new lighting, not a single note, a unique, brilliant, small structured sound to contrast these rudimentary plucked notes that humans play, seemingly so random yet in the mind for perfection. A true masterpiece.

Love this. The parrot doesn't realize that it is dampening the sound by sitting on the strings. The parrot LOVES the sound of the two lowest strings plucked together. Not so much the higher strings. But the parrot likes the sound of sliding its beak along the wound strings. Animals, right. Not as smart as we are, but still major smart in their own way.
