I’m a little confused. A quick Zillow search shows you can get a 2-bed in the South Loop for under $3,000 that’s nicer than a lot of these 1-beds. Is the 1-bed supply so low that their rental prices are basically the same as 2-beds?

Which address are you looking at? Zillow is unregulated in the Chicago rental market, so many of the listings on Zillow turn out to not be real.

Ask; need a 2 bedroom with elevator and pet run. Disabled single mom; but I don’t think I can go further north. Space 1 I like the best for separation of bedroom

What if I told you... you could buy an actual historic graystone a mile from the lake, 10 minutes from the loop, walking distance from an L stop and a Metra stop, and your mortgage payment would be less than what the cheapest apartment here costs to rent? I think this lady is working for the people renting these places... no other explanation. These apartments are such bad deals.

@aeimiller2740 Focus in on the area south of U of C, between 63rd St and about 87th. It's a forgotten area of Chicago with a wealth of unrestored old Chicago charm... And all the advantages I mentioned. Guaranteed to go up in value as more people discover and gentrify the area.
