Porcini mushroom risotto?! The catering staff really stepped up their game for this trip!
@JethroJessop4 ай бұрын
They were amazing, we had a team of 3 chefs on 24 hour rotation so we could demand whatever we desired at any time of the day. It became something of a game. I demanded Panda and Swan stew at 3am thinking that would stump them but they delivered!

Gorgeous day! Views definitely compensate for any negatives like bugs. Even in the open areas the winds looked fairly calm in most of the video. I thought it was going to be more of a wild trek but you found some nice roads to navigate.

It was all very manageable in the end. A fantastic day of riding. Couldn't really have asked for more!

I liked your enthusiastic opening monologue which made me excited to see what the day would bring. Glad that the uncharted route payed off. That inner loop looked more suitable for hiking than biking. Sorry to learn that tics are there too. Thanks for showcasing some of the stunningly beautiful Cairngorm's scenery and doing it well. However, in my opinion, the music selection could have been better.
@JethroJessop4 ай бұрын
The music seems to have been a controversial point! I try to avoid using the same old tunes over and over but maybe I should just give in and stick to the tried and tested classics 😉 I think the inner loop is a hiking trail really. It is doable on a bike but that doesn't mean I want to do it. I'm glad we went freestyle, the gamble paid off and we got a better ride for it. Ticks and all 😬

Very nicely made film as usual. You were blessed with lovely weather so the views of Scotland were just the best. Some of my trips back in the day were tougher and great , but isn’t that’s why they remain in memory. Keep on making these great biking films. Enjoy your dinner.

We got so lucky with the weather! I've actually always been pretty lucky with Scottish weather but this was on another level. A hard but worthwhile ride!

The whole route was very doable. A few bits were pretty hard though and I can imagine that in the wet it would become a different beat altogether. We got super lucky though and it was almost entirely glorious!

Do so love watching your style of capturing the beauty of adventures and also deep thinking. Watched you from years back as we would head out on our bikes and then we bought a fluffy 4 pawed pal and he wasn't quite up to bike touring so have put that activity into hibernation for now. If you have some tips on capturing adventures that you could share I would be very grateful. About to embark on a new form of activity and considering vlogging it so seeking advice from those who do it so well. Thanks for keeping the bike adventure alive for me even if through a like minded soul.

Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoy it! My advice would be to keep it simple. Make sure that the filming doesn't become the primary concern at the cost of enjoying the trip. I film everything on my phone except technical stuff where I use a GoPro. You don't need super fancy kit, if you have a decent phone that will be fine. Audio matters. Get a microphone if you plan to talk to camera, again it doesn't need to be expensive but it will make your videos a lot more watchable. An action camera is a good addition if you need something more rugged or waterproof. You can pick up second hand GoPros fairy cheap - mine is a 9 so quite old now but absolutely fine for the job.

@JethroJessop thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Reassuring all can be done on a managable budget. Freeflowing and not overly structured seems to be my idea. Enjoy your next adventure ... feel adventures add a richness to modern life. Keep peddling and I will start paddling 😇

@@marcellewelsh5386 it's a deal. I'd actually like to start paddling as well. I'm lusting over pack rafts at the moment though i cant quite justify the cost
@marcellewelsh53864 ай бұрын
@JethroJessop it is another beautiful way to see nature. Our most memorable moment was paddling down a quirt stretch of river and came across king fisher and it's fledglings as they learnt to fly from branch to branch. Was blessed to sit there under them for a hour as they learnt to navigate branch to branch. Literally would have been able to touch them but refrained out of respect for them. There are some amazing crafts out there so just a case of working out which one. We like the multi chambered one for safety in case there is a puncture. Also worth considering the ones that are a tad easy to pump up if not using an electric pump. Before paying, it is worth seeing if you can trial paddling out and work out if it is your vibe. We are more than happy to exchange what we have learnt over the years since you have shared advice on the skills of making enjoyable content on KZbin that doesn't become a chore 😇

Hi Jethro great trip. Out of curiosity how often do you take breaks in the day on an average 60/70Km day...Cheers
@JethroJessop3 ай бұрын
That depends on the terrain, the weather and the views. I guess generally I'll have 2 or 3 longer stops for food but also pretty regular pauses for just a snack bar or a handful of nuts. I find it best not to have a schedule, to push on when the going is good and stop when the urge takes you.

That is some very "no nonsense" feedback! I have a few tracks that I would happily use over and over but I fear I'd drive people insane so I try to mix it up a bit from what KZbin has to offer in their audio library. Sometimes I hits, sometimes I misses. I'll keep trying 😉
