I like the idea of having not only one, but two coming out of the Top End. One being out of Darwin, and the other being Cairns. Doing so would setup a natal showdowns with two northern Australian AFL teams. This can be done with an additional 21 and 22 AFL teams, or capping the number of AFL teams at 20, and maybe relocating two Melbourne teams. Like North Melbourne to Darwin, and an other Melbourne team to Carns

A few things 1. There is a Tennant at Barlow Park that being Northern Pride RLFC who play in QCUP which is Queensland's State Rugby League Competition the club is a feeder club for the Cowboys 2. The Cowboys are considering moving there Womens Team to Cairns 3. North Queensland Fury did not fold because of attendance their attendance was pretty decent especially for such a small market they folded because the owner could not afford to run the team, and they struggled to find sponsors also the FFA did not give the club enough time to find a new owner 4. Football games at the Olympics will be played at Suncorp, CBUS, Sunshine Coast Stadium, Queensland Country Bank, Barlow Park, Accor, MCG and possibly People First depending on if the 2032 Olympics will have Cricket and what happens with The Gabba 5. If the A-League were to return to North Queensland Townsville has the nicer stadium but Cairns is much more diverse when it comes to sport and actually likes Football as Townsville only cares about Rugby League there is also a small town about an hour away from Cairns called Mareeba who's population is mostly of Italian Descent that love Football but I don't think the A-League will return to North Queensland 6. I suspect you don't really like Football very much as you seem disinterested in talking about it when it comes up 7. Cairns has a bigger Airport then Townsville and Cairns Airport is an International Airport while Townsville is only a Domestic Airport 8. As for A-League Expansion, Canberra is next in 25/26 if an owner can be found, Gold Coast is most likely if the league expands past 14, Wollongong is a fantasy plus Wolves are pursuing 2nd Division ATM, Tasmania won't be able to find an owner and Football Tasmania would not be able to prop it up for very long and the APL has made it very clear they will not prop up anymore clubs at this time

Where do they play cricket at Cairns etc. any cricket grounds there. Why not get rid of running track and use the oval for cricket and AFL. Its a no brainer really. This isn't needed. A 20k rectangle and a Suncorp upgrade to 65/70k is far more needed in Brisbane. Then for the Olympic football you'd have Sydney probably Allianz, AAMI, Suncorp, 20k Brisbane, GC, Sunshine Coast and Townsville would be plenty for that and Rugby Sevens. And Canberra will need the Feds to fund a lot of a new stadium there with the antics of the ACT Gov with their new "costings" for a stadium

The Estimated cost to turn Perry Park into a 15K Stadium is about $200 Million and the concept art has it looking like a Rectangle Version of People First Stadium
@TOTN175 ай бұрын
The most likely scenario for a small rectangular stadium is that the Eastern Stand at Ballymore will be replaced with a 5K Stand which will also be a sports performance centre giving the venue a Seated Capacity of 8010 plus the Hill, Roar will either end up at Ballymore or back at Redcliffe while Reds would stay at Suncorp
@LucasIsBossNo215 ай бұрын
Still a better investment than 90m for Cairns, that'll probably blow out further on a white elephant that will at best get a few NRLW games. At least Perry Park would mean Roar have their own ground, freeinf Suncorp up for concerts in the NRL off season and would be ideal for a few lesser drawing Reds games and NRLW. Could also play a game or 2 there for magic round. Plus Ballymore has fk all PT near it and Roar already tried Redcliffe and the crowds were awful.

Townsville makes far more sense than Hobart for the A-Leagues. And Cairns probably more sense for the NSD if it happens, simply because there is a rectangular venue capable of holding more than 1000 people and Tasmania is committed bankrupting itself building the greatest white elephant in the state's history. Neither the NSD or further A-League expansion looks likely as things stand.
