MCG . Is smart , cause 100k people there , would be unbelievable to see played there , or even Adelaide with the way the spectators noise echoes & makes it feel like 100k .

Australia spends wayyyyyy too much money on stadiums and roads, unlike in Europe and Asia which prioritises nice footpaths, safe, walkable car-free streets, public transportation.

As far as northern winter cricket I concerned, I can see a case for Australia A sides to host lower tier test sides such as Bangladesh, Ireland, Zimbabwe or even next tier teams like the Netherlands and the UAE. If not full test format, then perhaps 4 day cricket like in the Sheffield Shield.

The thing is that Hobart could actually hold matches out of season, depending on whether they delay home or away matches in Tasmania. For instance in the first few seasons of Tassie. They could play matches out of Launcestion from round 18 onwards. Allowing drop in pitches to go in and then for Hobart to host matches in early Sept. Similar could happen at the front end of the season with a test match in April.

In Perth you have five guys from one day team making themselves unavailable for Perth match against Pakistan. Because they were scared it was too far to fly to Perth twice in a fortnight. Never mind that footy teams do it every alternative week during the season. Then they whinge that there isn't a crowd in Perth. Cricket Australia has been really poor in how they've supported Perth and marketed games in the city. There are 3 million people in Perth, its not the fans fault and the ground is the best in the country. Cricket Australia need to clean up their PR in Perth.
@BDub20244 күн бұрын
Perth Stadium is the number one stadium in the country. It just doesn't have the tradition. The viewing lines, visibility and access to screens, food/beverage, corporates is the best. Perth is usually just damn hot in summer with every day over 35. It just puts people off going. Also the matches start just after 10am, so you don't get the work crowds in the last 2-3 hours. It should be day night match as the whole match would be on tv prior to school holidays from 4pm to 11pm also it be straight into India from 10am to 5pm. Perfect. They could even plan the lunch break so that people in Melb/Syd can still watch their news each night (which is how the match is scheduled now with the tea break). Also the marketing of the match in Perth is really poor. Perth is a different marketplace, so needs a more nuanced promotion to appeal to Perth. You shouldn't have Cummins for example, when he is an unpopular cricketer in Perth. Kuwaja is a nonentity in Perth, he won't get anyone in the gate. Last year's promotion seemed to actually forget that there were players actually involved including perth players. Lastly, Cricket Australia need to work harder as they have done a lot of damage with stupid comments about ranking Perth as the fifth venue, and then scheduling shocking matches there. Perth people just don't feel the love. There is genuinely a reputational issue with Cricket Australia in Perth, and they need to accommodate this if they want consistently good crowds. And lastly, at the WACA it usually fitted 25k and you'd be spending all day in the scorching sun and it would be expensive. It will take quite a few years for people to get into the mindset that they can just turn up at a game and buy a ticket.

If the ICC decide to give hosting rights to the top team in the World Test Championship I'd like Cairns and Darwin to get matches, also no one seems to remember this but the Gabba once hosted a match in June against Pakistan on a drop-in. Btw Cairns had three ODIs against NZ at Cazaly's in 2022, I don't think attendances were ever a problem but TV viewership was terrible

Definitely Lang Park on pretty much any scale but I don't agree with their aesthetics being the definitive marker. You may as well judge football teams by the fashion of their jerseys. Surely, user friendliness has to be how you gauge the quality of a ground. Also judging CBus lower because you feel the Titans are boring is hardly logical and it wasn't cheap per se, it was built cost effectively.

4:08 There are two problems with this 1. The date makes it coincide with the NRL Finals, it would be a problem if say South Sydney was hosting a finals games on that Saturday. 2. The Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961, which prevents games being broadcast in America between Mid September to Mid December from 6pm Friday to the end of Saturday if a TV Station is within 75 Miles of a High School Football Game or a College Football Game which during both days is basically the entire US.

I've looked at who the LA Rams (who currently hold marketing rights in Australia) are scheduled to play at home against in 2026: Arizona Cardinals (maybe) Dallas Cowboys (might be too far) Kansas City Chiefs (won't happen if Mahomes, Kelce and Co. are still there - they'd be too big a draw to take outside the US) Los Angeles Chargers (no way known the NFL would have an all-LA game in AUS) New York Giants (definitely too far away) San Francisco 49ers (won't happen, as they're the Rams biggest rivals) Seattle Seahawks (maybe, especially if Michael Dickson is still with them) The last home opponent is TBA, but it will be a team from the NFC North division, for whom a trip to Aus would be about the same distance as Dallas, so that would rule them out. So my guess: The Rams hosting either the Seahawks or Cardinals at Accor.

Be interesting to see this go ahead through if the game is in September you clash with AFL and NRL Finals, It would have to be teams in the Pacific time zone of which there are 5 teams those being the LA Chargers, LA Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Las Vegas Raiders out of those 5 the Raiders and Seahawks are the most popular in Australia through I could see the 49ers being open to playing in Aus if it means one less early season home game

If they played it in November it would definitely sell out fast, as it's a sporting event dead zone over here after the Melbourne Cup before Test Cricket starts. The time zones would just be a reverse of what the NRL did in Las Vegas. Day game local time broadcast at night over there.
