@@KiamSessoms The league's numbers were sh*t for the last two decades. CC comes in and according to the numbers; the revenue, the new fans, the unequivocal, empirical, unadulterated, scientific and statistical date (which means "information based in reality that cannot be denied without any falsity or delusion regardless of oppositional response")...recharges the league. In essence, at least for now... She IS the league - these objective quantitative numbers would not exist without her. Remove the numbers and you have a failing league filled with talented women who DO deserve better. Remember, a lot of CC fans that come in to enjoy the game are also learning about other talented players that weren't so lucky to have the same marketability. Above all, this is a business. So, to say, "...they act like she's the only person who exists in the league." is pretty closed minded, and is a mindset that will only serve to perpetuate previous league failures to athletes who deserve so much better. Is she the best player out there? Personally, I don't think so. But for a 22 y/o rookie - She's highly skilled in her position, fun to watch, and currently the most marketable at this point. Appreciate what she brings. Love the players your love. Talk sh*t for fun and whenever necessary. And most importantly - Enjoy the game.

It was because Oprah had so much kindness, love and acceptance that she gave, and it lifted everybody around her and everybody who watched and listened to her. People loved Whitney Houston too. The masses will gravitate towards and love a person, not based on their skin color, gender, orientation, etc. but on how they make people feel. Princess Diana had those beautiful qualities too. Media usually ask questions in such a way to drive the narrative they have already written. They come in with a story angle. It’s already developed, they have long wordy sentences that become paragraphs often starting or ending in, “ would you agree”. And a typical response from anyone in the US starts with, “ yea, um, for me…..”. Which can then be written, “ person believes ( insert the entire paragraph here). The ridiculous, leading, or obvious questions reporters ask of the sports stars are designed to fit their narrative, not to gain insight or produce surprises. The players also have written talking points that they try to incorporate into their answers to communicate the team’s storyline. Media training teaches blocks and pivots, and I see the women starting to use the technique.
@Armstrong_19903 ай бұрын
Context matters… Those reports also asked them two different questions. Set the standard for competition and how stars should act. I remember Magic Johnson recalling the time Larry Bird's mom invited him for lunch and told him he was her favorite basketball player. They are still friends to this day. CC is new old school, in the class of Bird and Magic. Reese is the me,me,me league of the low down past.

The difference in Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark's response to being named to the All-Star team is Caitlin Clark has been highly criticized buy WNBA players and she's learned to try to deflect the attention off of her where Angel Reese has not been criticized in the same manner so it's easy for her to be thankful that she made it

@@keithschmidt5700 again she was set for the mystics at pick 6. the draft works by having conversations with the teams the connections the players make with coaches matters. Reese made it clear she wanted to work under Theresa since Theresa was coached by mulkey just like Angel. Chicago had the 8th pick but gave up one of their picks in the second round so they could get her and moved up to the 7th pick bc they were concerned she wouldn’t be available past the 7th slot. Have your opinions about her. But averaging 19 and 12 your senior season leading your team and conference in those categories you will NEVER go past pick 10 in the draft. Yall just don’t wanna like her. And regardless of the when she was picked she’s the second best rookie of the class if not tired for first with CC bc she’s more efficient

This post is BS. I am someone who is a much bigger fan of Caitlin than Angel, but the responses are to two different questions. They asked Angel about HERSELF, so she answered a question about herself. Caitlin, who is obviously great at answering questions.

They asked Angel about making the All-Star game and she went straight to victim-mentality. How about, "It's amazing. What an honor. It's been a lot of hard work to get here and I'm blessed to get this opportunity and I'm looking forward to the experience of playing with all the other great players in our leagues that made the team. Watch out Olympic team! Here we come!"

@ChicksDigScarsPodcast all true. I definitely think she could have answered better, and I'm rooting for Caitlyn every game. She's a special player and a special person. How does it matter if there were 2 different questions? The first thing the Reese went into whine mode about was all the people that doubted me. That seemed to trigger emotions, and she struggled from there. There are tons of ways she could responded without focusing on the me element. I've looked up what her major was, and I'm a bit surprised she has a degree.

We all need to give Angel Reese a break on this one. Lest we forget, she's just 22 years old and is showing the maturity of a 22 year old. Caitlin Clark acts like a grizzled veteran and is the best ambassador for the sport, but that's her exceptional maturity rarely seen. In comparison, Diana Taurausi, Sheryl Swoopes, etc. are petty and small-minded, just unbecoming of their statures in the game.
@914Rocky3 ай бұрын
I think that Reese is a borderline as an all star. She misses a gazillion layups and a significant portion of her rebounds comes from those misses. She has very awkward footwork and poor leaping ability. I agree completely re: her attitude. She’s so jealous of Clark. Funny that Kate Martin wasn’t picked. She was a top vote getter. To heck with the fans I guess. To me, I would have picked Ezi over Angel for the All Star game.
