With Kelsey Mitchell having one of her best games. Unfortunately a great game of basketball was overshadowed by more Sheryl Swoopes controversy, who can't seem to stop mentioning Caitlin Clark in a negative way.

Whomever made the decision to remove Swoopes from the broadcast team for this game displayed more chutzpah than anyone in any decision-making capacity in the league the entire season. And Lieberman had the good sense to immediately address the controversy and counter the ridiculous negativity surrounding Clark. It was a breath of fresh air. And on top of everything else, the game lived up to its billing.

Taurasi may not be the player she once was, but Diana IS still the leading scorer in the history of the WNBA with around 10,500 career points. Right now, Clark is a long way from that record, even though she is off to an amazing start. Taurasi has always been tough on her opponents, especially superstar rookies. It’s almost like an “honor” to be “hated” ( loosely using the word hated ) by Taurasi. CC is changing the way the WNBA is played as is also the new face of the League. However, the hating of CC is actually a good thing for the “W”. Rivalry is good for any league. People are buying tickets and watching the WNBA on TV to see if CC is for real, and to see why it is that people hate CC. The WNBA needs to embrace the new, and almost extreme, rivalries. Marketing the rivalries should be a necessity. The WNBA needs to capitalize on the rivalries and make a ton more money for the League and the players. The League is in a great place now. If the League misses out on their opportunity, I believe the League will end up folding. Or, I am actually the idiot my wife of thirty years claims that I am. The jury is still out on whether I’m the idiot or not.

Arike is the one superstar they had. The Fever have 2, Kelsey Mitchell and CC, Thunder and Lightning, BOOM, you never know when they strike. Those two girls playing like that reminds me of Kevin Durant and Steph Curry when they lit up basketball with the Golden State Warriors. It is exciting to watch what was arguably the worst team in the wNBA turn it around with just one firebrand player added to the roster. The real accomplishment of CC is how her unselfish, no quit, we can win attitude has galvanized these players into a well oiled machine.

This was a really good test. Had an opposition player totally unconscious making everything, fell down by 9 points in the 4th quarter. Clark played smart team basketball. Her 12 assists were huge. Kinda felt like a playoff game in moments.
