Look at what coach Sides is up against! 1.The Fever didn’t need CC first of all, but management wanted her to sell tickets. 2. Coach Sides spent the off season drawing up plays for Boston, but now has to throw all of that away and learn on the fly. 3. She has to deal with you crazy fanatics sending the team and her death threats bc she was put in an impossible situation. 4. All of the other teams has their team leader that’s been there for years and all they have to do is incorporate role players and NOT team leaders. 5. People are willing to give CC grace to adjust and work on her fundamentals, but not sides. Sides needs time to adjust too. 2 weeks is not enough time to do all of this. 6. She has a very young team with rookies who are the team leaders. No coach without adequate time to prepare can do all of this especially with you CC fanatics hounding her like this. It’s down right shameful and wrong. You fanatics are the ones who need to quit not Coach Sides!
@Meggiebeth19

I don’t like calling for someone’s job, but Sides is out of her element coaching the Fever. CC has a higher IQ and ability to coach the Fever than Sides. Notice in the huddle CC is talking to the players giving direction. She is the leader. What she did having CC on the bench last night was crazy. Have you noticed that Sides takes zero responsibility but projects blame always at the players? She refused to answer the question as to WHY CC got the tech. Did Sides even know the reason why? As coach she better know. Scolding CC for getting a tech! Her coach will not fight for her w/the refs. Also, what is going on w/Kelsey Mitchell? She makes points but does not pass the ball-where’s the teamwork w/her? CC played an amazing game last night even if the Fever lost. She was a joy to watch as her passion and drive to win is noble and beautiful to watch. Thanks for your rundown - you are spot on.

I 1000% agree!! Is it just me, or is there a 'vibe' about Sides that says, "I'M the coach, I will make all the decisions because I am TOTALLY in control of everything on this team, including this big deal whoopdie-do Caitlin Clark person. No one must question me, because I am in CONTROL"? Like she has some kind of chip on her shoulder, something to prove? I dunno... Every time I see her, I think that's what her body language/non-verbals convey. I keep trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, but then she keeps throwing CC under the bus, blaming the players for everything, not standing up for them/fighting for them...

Unfortunately if you look back at the other close games Sides is responsible for those losses. The Fever franchise is now an embarrassment for not taking care of the Sides problem. This Fever team maybe young but they have a lot of talent. They need a coach who knows what she or he is doing and will fight for the team. The others coaches are loving this because now they have the advantage not having Caitlyn on the floor. Yes it takes a team to win but she is a leader for this team. CC gets them fired up. Who ever has the power to let Sides go, you need to act. Not only is she a terrible coach, she is an embarrassment to the franchise and the WNBA.

Sides must be investigated. It's not a coincidence that she sits CC has any momentum. As you mention in the first qtr. And then several times in second half. As you mention the fever had put together a nice run and had a lead. Instead of riding it out to a bigger lead she benched CC until LA had a double digit lead. It's not a coincidence. Appears like game fixing.

(So,I did my M.A. in Sports Mgmt worked a lot with Bluder & Jensen during grad school, so i've been kinda aware of how they operate including clark for a bit, respectfully ;) @theadriennerossshow3143, you are 100% on the money w all this. Also, should be noted, during Clark's time at Iowa, She & Hannah Stuelke (also was a State Track Star) would race & were clocked at times that were faster than *many of the Iowa football team. Her endurance & speed is legit and INSANE.. Incredible Elite level Athleticism there. She should be playing nearly 40min EVERY game & is perfectly capable of that esp as she adjusts more & more to this next level. Definitely should NOT be sitting 3,4 or 5 min at a time EVER, esp when shes hot & got them on a run. The girl should run ultra-marathons and do Iron Man's once shes all done. Also, totally agree with your Sides input here... I've tried to be patient & give her benefit of the doubt moving along early, but its gotten harder and harder w her decisions, what she says, and it's almost impossible now to support her being the Head for this team in the future even from i think halfway point in season.... I think we may see her ousted by then with no MAJOR shifts in her style of coaching , or wins to back it. It's just part of the business. Thanks for all you do, Adrienne! LOVE your podcast, glad i found it!. and Go Hawks and Fever!:)

The lid was on the hoop and the Fever were not getting many Oboards that first half. Four teammates finished the game with one bucket, another who played 27 minutes finished with just two buckets. It puts a lot of extra stress on Boston, Mitchell and Clark to produce points. In spite of her team and coach, among the 2024 rookie class Clark is first in almost every game average stat including player efficiency.

I love listening to your insights on how many pro-ballers are giving Caitlyn a hard welcome to WNBA knocks(down). Great analysis! I love your knowledge of the game and your fair examination! Thank you! I have been an on again off again basketball fan over my 52 years. I’ve never coached anything and other than playing bball on the paved driveways of friends and on public park courts 1 on 1, I’ve never played basketball. I’m also new to the W bc I became a Clark fan once I discovered what a phenomenal player she was/is and what an exciting long & logo 3 hooper she can be. So there are the disclaimers to my opinion. That said, I’ve watched Indiana’s preseason games and every minute of every Fever in season game along w/ all of the Fever’s practice clips, pre game press, and post game press. And, I’ve watched both professional and amateur analysis from ESPN and NBA players to KZbin commentators. I also understand that the Fever is young w/ a player average of 3.5 yrs vs a team like the NY Liberty w/ a per player avg of 7.5 yrs. I know the turn around time from the draft to their first in season game was fast. I know Mitchell didn’t have the opportunity of their preseason practices to gel w/ the team. I know the Fever had a tough schedule to start the season w/ 7 games in 12 days to include 5 away games & a back to back game/s. I know the Liberty and the Sun are a couple of the best teams and the Fever played them each twice. And, because of Clark’s popularity and millions strong fan base, the Fever and Sides are receiving unprecedented attention. That’s a whole lotta pressure and expectation leaving little room for the grace and patience needed for a young team and a coach only in her second yr as Head. So, there is the context for what is out of the team and the coach’s control. That said, Sides is a problem! 1) Too often players aren’t lined up in roles for their best success. 2) Too often, especially in earlier games, Sides opted to not run the offense through Clark. 3) Sides has shown favoritism for Wheeler, who is a ball hog and doesn’t see the court. Her bball intelligence is not there. 4) Sides has shown favoritism for Boston when Boston was lumbering down the court, not playing aggressively, in a shooting slump, and not only not advancing the game but impeding it. She has greatly improved her play & speed these last 2 games. And to give Sides credit she did bench Boston 3 games ago. 5) While Sides’ goal for CC to improve her long 2 shots, that is a hard ask w/ their lack of practices due to their schedule including 5 away games, AND that goal cannot include impeding CC from shooting 3’s! 6) Sides is helicopter coaching from the sidelines but refuses to advocate for CC who is being straight up mugged on the floor w/ VERY inconsistent refereeing. She is double and triple defended w/ arms and hands all over her. She had a gal move into linebacker pose in one game behind CC forcing her to run into her backwards upon which CC crumbled to the floor. In the clip you showed CC had an arm try to take her head off. Last night the free thrower “forgot” she had the technical free throw to shoot and she prematurely went to defend CC who was standing still waiting for her to shoot again. CC is being aggressively targeted without fouls being called AND without Sides coaching Fever players to help her or punish the defense! Sides is NOT doing ANYTHING to protect her, which is throwing her under the bus on the court before Sides throws her under the bus w/ the post game press, which she has done 3-4 X now. 7) Sides NEVER takes any responsibility. 8) We know that exhausted players = higher chance of injury and the coach must find ways & times to find breaks for CC… but NOT at crunch time when they are only up by 4, NOT when the opposing team is on a run. Where is the strategic time out? 9) CC has too many unforced turnovers but a) she handles the ball a lot b) doesn’t seem to have the coach’s confidence thus doesn’t have her own confidence so she questions herself & loses focus and c) CC’s teammates fail to get her passes causing some of the damn turnovers that CC gets added to her stats! 10) Sides is SLOW to change strategies and doesn’t seem knowledgeable about the strengths of the opposing teams and/or their players. It’s a part of HER job to prepare her young players!!! That’s what I’ve observed. Maybe I’m too new a fan and too inexperienced. I could just be ignorant and not seeing things or seeing things that aren’t there. If so, sorry:-( But… until someone can tell me what I’m getting wrong, that’s my opinion.

From the very first Coach Sides seem to not want to change her style of play to better fit the team with CC. She even saying CC needs to shoot more long twos ... That's what I think is the hardest part. The other game Sides benched CC in the first for about 2 or 3 minutes then put her back in with 30 seconds or so. Really?!!! Everything you mentioned I have been thinking. I ran across your channel tonight and decided to watch and glad I did. You are spot on. I have been thinking this coach is just over her head. Taking Caitlin out of the game was the first thing that puzzeled me. As an old white guy I didn't want to say anything about Kelsey Mitchell's game because then I would be called a racist so I am glad you did. I think Mitchell is very talented but she could be so much better if she learned to play under control especially on break aways under the basket. She seems to be somewhat hesitant to pass to Caitlin when Caitlin would just pass the ball back to Kelsey to set up one of Kelsy's 3's. She is a good shooter.

What cost the Fever is Caitlin sitting out gameplay, and Sides not knowing how to coach or take care of her team! If the team doesn’t have a leader to look out for them, what’s the point? Coach Bluder knew how to tap in and check in with her team to get the best out of them. Coaching is more than yelling and butt-slapping. Something is amiss with Sides’ attitude toward Caitlin. Almost as if she’s harboring some kind of animosity toward her. Something is just wrong.

@@theadriennerossshow agreed. I just can’t understand a struggling WNBA team and coach, being able to procure a powerhouse that is Caitlin Clark and benching her. Compare the other teams, Breanna Stewart almost always plays a whole game, Diana Taurasi, same, Sabrina Ionescue, and so many others! It’s certainly not that Caitlin doesn’t have the stamina. We’ve seen that she does. Something is not right in the mix of the Fever, something that goes beyond saying you want the team to succeed, yet not allowing the very person who can jumpstart making that happen, to do so.

You're, absolutely, spot on, ma'am. I've watched every single Fever game and Sides simply doesn't know what she's doing and she doesn't know what to do with CC. That she throws her under the bus after CC was the ONE player that kept her team in the Sparks game Tuesday with 30/6/5 and 3 steal and 3 blocks. THAT pissed me off and I'm happy to see that so many others are calling Sides on for it.

Adrienne Your spot on about coaching, I understand she's a rookie. But she's impacting the game in every way, not only her shooting. She's getting comfortable and her passing game is really amazing. As for all the haters, no doubt their personality is killing any chance for endorsement deals. Everyone wants to play the skin game, give it rest already. Jordan, Shaq, Tiger, Williams Sisters may all disagree. Skin color has nothing to do with a players ability. WNBA ladies clean up your attitude. Must be a miserable existence living with all that hate.

I don't listen much to post game comments by coaches, so this may be a normal way of speech. But I have to say from the first time I heard Sides speak about her players to the press, it made me very uncomfortable. She seems to make extremely personal critical comments about them that it would be better left to be said off camera and directly to the player if she feels that strongly about it. You don't want be denigrating your players in front the public especially when they are a young team that is struggling. Sure, you can criticize them for certain weaknesses. But her way of speaking about her players just seems a bit brutal to me.

Well said, team doing weil in 3rd quarter, then coach pulled Caitlin out. #2 Teamwork, you correctly point out highly skilled Kelsey not disciplined in team offense. Like that, by now this offense should be getting explosive inside with Caitlin driving & passing to the 3 talented bigs, but that is only sporadic, mostly on Caitlin's long passes. Should be more.

Caitlin is much more important to the Fever organization and if Caitlin stands up to Sides and Sides decides to not play Caitlin to be vindictive, then all hell is going to break loose and Sides will have everyone against her. I have said the exact same things you said in this video. Sides needs to go. She hasn’t shown me anything. Often the team doesn’t look prepared to play basketball. She doesn’t utilize her timeouts, she doesn’t manage the game well, she doesn’t make in game adjustments to help her team stay in games or win games. She doesn’t have her team’s back and she doesn’t take any responsibility for their performance. I will NEVER like or respect a coach who berates a player in public during a press conference. That’s something to be addressed in private in the coach’s office, one-on-one. She does very little to encourage this team or to inspire them to elevate their play. They’re a young inexperienced team that needs a savvy veteran coach who knows how to get the maximum out of young talent. It’s an absolute travesty with Sides. It’s painful to watch as she tanks good opportunities for this group to be successful.

I think the 'powers that be', whether it's Dunn or whoever it is, need to sit Sides down and tell her that it's time to start shaping the team around CC. Maybe she needs to be reminded that Caitlin is the all-time leading scorer in collegiate basketball, and it's TIME to let her shoot, then let her shoot, and then let her shoot some more. And that whatever Sides needs to do regarding the other players to get them all on board with that, she'd better get busy and do it. Call Lisa Bluder. Humble yourself, Sides. Admit you need help figuring out this kid and what she's capable of doing. She should ask Bluder's advice on how best to utilize CC to maximum effect, and if she already has, she needs to do it again. Some of the program/CC's game would have to be tweaked - Caitlin's not necessarily used to defenders being able to close gaps so quickly, etc, - but as I said, those things are tweaks, and CC can handle making those adjustments. What I don't know that she can handle is Sides pouring water on her fire, breaking her spirit, hobbling her...however you wanna say it. I pray - literally pray - that Sides either will change and refuse to do that, or exit the organization.

I know lots of people that could outcoach Sides, she is unbelievable. CC22 needs a coach to work with, a real coach. If anyone had seen how CC22 got here by playing lights out at Iowa for 4 years they would realize how special she is. Most of all she completely understands the game, a coach is needed for the girls she works with. This whole thing is disgusting and i cant believe Sides has been allowed to do this. I'd think CC22 sponsors would stop it, somebody needs to do something now!

Ricky made an a stew point is everyone is saying she sets Clark early in the game and leaves Kelsi Mitchell on the court based on her comments I think that she thinks that Kelsi Mitchell is her best guard not Kaitlyn Clark secondarily setting her late in the game when they’re on a run Crazy Kaitlyn Clark is 22 years old. She played 40 minutes many times in Iowa. I don’t think that’s an issue for her. I think she takes her route when she makes a pass. She doesn’t like or I think she takes him out as a punishment if you go back and look at it, miss her first six threes when she was in Iowa and then go on to make seven or eight of them after that and that’s what sides needs to understand that she can do. She scored 15 points in two minutes against Nebraska when she scored 49 points. She can score Will just gotta let her there and Kelsi Mitchell does not pass her the ball that I’ve seen and that’s a problem.

Seems like Coach Christie Sides has make Kelsey Mitchell the No 1 option on the offensive side for three games now. Kelsey is a gunner and streaky. She will not pass up a shot even if a better shot his available by the teammates. IMO Caitlin had enough. I think she said to herself I am the best player on the court. If this is the case, she should ignore Sides and play the game that will help the team win. Mitchell -17 +/-. N. Smith -24 +/-. Are you serious. IMO I think Caitlin has a birdie in her ear.
