So let me get this straight. Caitlin Clark goes to Nike headquarters for some meetings. The Nike campus has a bunch of banners, placards and such. Does anyone else see what is going on here? This is another way to keep her calm while they stall for more time. The banners are absolutely nothing. I used to work in the screen-printing business as well as signs and banners. A quick call to a company that specializes in this, and it can be made in a single day. The key is where is all the promotion off campus? They put banners up on the side of the arena where she plays. Again, it's nothing. No radio, no internet, no television, no national promotion. That's where Nike continues to fail. They are not serious about her. Now Caitlin Clark has a degree in marketing, as does her mother. I would hope that they are not fooled by some shiny objects to shift her attention away from the abject failure to properly promote her. Adrienne said it best a few weeks ago. Contracts are made to be broken. If I were Caitlin, I would use Addias as a wedge or a hammer, take your pick. Nike is not in the greatest spot right now. Caitlin has power over Nike. That power are her fans, and they can sink Nike with their ability to NOT buy Nike products.

Are they finally getting it through their heads that they screwed up? A'ja Won'tson's shoes didn't sell out, her jersey retirement ceremony didn't sell out, and her media rep has taken major hits, as has theirs for doing Caitlin Clark dirty for months. Caitlin, meanwhile has sold out two runs of Wilson Sporting Goods signature basketballs, for 10,000 and 20,000 item runs. She's already sold out her retirement ceremony, and they're scratching to find ways to open new sections. Those tickets in the nosebleed section are going for $348 each. Won'tson can't sell out $16 nosebleed seats. Yet this was the horse they chose to ride, even though they didn't even have a contract with her until a few days AFTER the awards were announced and awarded. Caitlin had a contract signed going into her senior season. That means it's already been two years of nothing from them, and they're saying that it's going to take until 2026 or 2027? That's 4-5 years to "create" a signature shoe. They managed to pull it off for Won'tson in 4 months, and they couldn't sell out the shoes from Won'tson. Isxit possible they're now realizing they backed the wrong horse, and are trying desperately to save their assets?

That much should be obvious to even the most casual observer. I, myself, have an engineering degree, and that carries with it at least some marketing and economic education. Most engineers find themselves in a supervisory position at some point, and therefore, it's considered a good idea to have at least some training in economic theory. Trust me, I would have, based on what training I had in the field, made sure such protections existed before signing my name to the contract. I can guarantee that someone who majored in the subject would have done so as well. She would have been certain those protections were there or forced them to rewrite it until they were, then signed it. That's for those people who say, "Uh, we don't know what's in the contract." Perhaps we don't know the precise nature of those protections, but I guarantee that no one who has a marketing degree and that kind of GPA would ever sign such a contract that didn't protect them from abusive contracts. Also, the fact that you are now trying to minimize the value of Caitlin's GPA and ignoring Reese's Cup's horrid substandard GPA makes me wonder what YOU are saying. For the record, I finished my engineering degree with a 3.92 GPA. Are you suggesting that was meaningless and that I am stupid and lucky?

I just push back on the concept of college these days being evidence of the real world overall. (Although there are various forms of education more valuable than college these days-and cheaper!) I’m saying that increasingly in college too many other things go on in general. Caitlin Clark is bringing the WNBA into the 21st century without the help of the same WNBA. She has a strong foundation for success on all fronts and the timing is perfect for women’s sports to have a superstar at the helm. What’s concerning to me are those (like S. Swoops) who push their own agenda onto impressionable young athletes without thinking about their own legacies. Yes, that's true. A huge one of myself was placed downtown in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and I also have a couple of myself when I do events where I sell my books--but for whatever reason, the word was escaping me at the time! Shaking my head on that one! LOL!

Everyone is saying the contract at $28 m is low but it wouldn’t surprise me if that number is the guaranteed minimum amount and she gets a percentage of the sales. It’ll be more like many celebrities and movie stars do. We just don’t know.

C#'s Birthday not far off so would be a good time for some update from Nike.... C#'s Major was Marketing. She might be the reason they have not done anything, She's not going to let her name be attached to any old shoe or merch. We all know Wilson have been quick of the mark with C# merch, but there is a lot of diffrence between a basketball with her name on and shoe with the same.
