Oh the good old days. I was there as well back in 08 watching the old Railway Chronicles series, I can agree the 311 episodes were some of the best Yt had at that time. I too have no idea how a random, non-Thomas, YT series character has survived like it has. YT and DA are filled with all these little kids running around screaming, "Ooooh look! Its the Demon 311 from the Clinchfield! She was a real engine that crashed and now she kills people and takes engines away!" And of course us YT veterans are all looking at it going, "Where the hell are you guys coming up with this?!"

engineer6325 Hah! Glad someone else remembers those days. Mike knew what he was doing with that series, the only one I can say comes close now is San Juan. They do a phenomenal job, and the creators are all cool. I still can't fathom what caused the newbies to latch onto 311 like they did, but at least there are still a few of us who remember how it originally went down.
@engineer63257 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you enjoy San Juan. Those guys really do know their stuff. The one episode I wrote for them was received well enough I'm tempted to try my hand at my own Trainz vids. Perhaps a proper 311 story......no idea.
@SCL36187 жыл бұрын
engineer6325 Absolutely. Awesome to hear you had a part, the stories (something my half-arsed series lacked) are enjoyable to follow along with, and easily set SJT apart from the others. Best of luck if you do! Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

The original will never be beaten lol. My adaptations were more spoofs than anything, but I will agree that the character got stretched far from its roots.. The only reason I used it through a few videos was for fun, and having known the original creator, I got the full backstory early on.

@@SCL3618 been a long, long time, but is there any chance of RWC being re-uploaded someplace like dailymotion where music copyright isn't a problem? At least the Halloween episode. If you're still friends with the original author and they're fine with that of course. This is pretty significant piece of early trainz series lore and it'd be great to revisit it after all these years.
@SCL3618 Жыл бұрын
@@engineerskalinera I highly doubt it unfortunately. I've long since lost touch with the creator. This may just boil down to one of those things you had to see when it was around, unless someone randomly has some of the old episodes downloaded in their personal stash and comes forward with them.

Not half bad, but I do have something great instore for halloween. Could you do 311 for the 2016 halloween? Put in some engines and see if they can go find 311 and get the ghost spirit out of him and make him be a regular engine again. Could you do that for the 2016 halloween?

Aljaz Skarlovnik I did all of the voices in this short. No, the original 311 voice was done by the creator of the series in which it was introduced. As explained in other videos, this was nothing more than a filler engine to use in his ghost storyline.

Then it was like it was gone and never to be seen again.. that as until I came up with an idea to bring it back to the big screen with some friends and well I guess you all know the rest since it returned 311's gotten quite a good following. Plus I gave her a theme that many liked that does fit her, called "Long Black Train" by Josh Turner and it does work.

No offense Kanefan - I really enjoyed your 311 episodes when they first came out, but looking at them now... I think you ruined the character. Possibly for a very long time. The production quality is very low, the story is terrible and 311 has the worst case of actute Deviantart fanfic edge-cringe syndrome I've every seen. What's worse, it spawned 300000 clickbait kids who started making even shittier content or shipped 311 with ponies or something idk. I don't hold it against you (that much) but this really aged horribly and ruined the reputation of a stellar character. My only hope is that with time the cringy red smoke and light effect """demon""" version of the character fades away and we can rehabilitate the whole thing. Make it actually scary. Think Little Blue Hell or Hawin Series scary. That's how you do a demon character. Or at least revert it back to what it originally was - more mysterious and unsettling that outright scary. That being said, I hope your writing has improved since, and that you have a great day.

@@engineerskalinera look I had no intentions of "running" 311 but I brought it back to the big screen and made it a female for a change and when it came back people started to remember the engine from another series (even I can't remember when or where but it was super fantastic) but listen, bare with me, many still comment to me about the film mostly liking the writing and the drama and emotional scenes that were in it and the casting I had (even myself voicing some of the characters to save time) but it was a once time film and you'll be happy to know I've been rebuilding 311 aka Jessica as she's named I've planned to reboot her and into a better story where it has a happy ending and a new beginning. you will know this on my DA when I get started soon on it. As for those guys who have made fanfic edge-cringe syndrome on the 311 I just think they are not real fans and just brain dead. And with those are spawn 300000 clickbait kids who made terrible content (which I agree on and don't like at all) or shipped 311 with ponies or something is just disgusting and disrespecting what I had done or to the real fans of 311 old and new and I do ignore it but I do find it disturbing and knowing those are not real fans and just wannabies. But I'm not cross with you at all and nothing to be offended. Just keep in mind what was made was what was available at the time. If I did remake the film it would look a bit different and much darker if I had directed it fully.

Is there any way to say it's almost laughable and downright cringe-worthy listening to you talk to yourself with a low quality microphone with a Fraps watermark in the top of the screen? Seriously, a Fraps watermark, in 2016. Jesus man, if you don't want to pay for it, just use Pirate Bay or something. I guess to each his own, but who is the target audience for a show where people talk to themselves, as train characters, in ultra-low quality?
@SCL36187 жыл бұрын
The Arctic Gamer Might wanna get a few more videos up yourself before you drop comments on how "cringe-worthy" and low quality other's videos are ;) I'm fine with using the legal and free option, a small watermark doesn't phase me. This show is for stupid ideas and (somehow) getting views. You think I don't laugh at the quality myself? This series was never good by any stretch, but was fun to make. At this point, I make it for the sheer hell of it for friends and myself. Between semesters at college, I've been spending 95% of my time at work to help pay/save up for future endeavors. KZbin, much less a silly Trainz series, was never in the "full-time" plan. If you want to see a quality series, go watch San Juan. If you want to see something I do for the heck of it, you're looking at it.
@trainknut7 жыл бұрын
Yes yes I know, my videos are shite, and I've pretty much abandoned my channel. I have a massive amount of recordings of various games, some good, most terrible, backed up waiting for me to sift through them, and decide which is worthy of upload, and which is trash. You would be surprised though, the one video I consider my least favorite I still have public on my channel, is the most well received, I literally just slapped together some pictures from my harddrive and put the most generic music that came to mind over top of it, and somehow it ended up my most viewed, and best voted video on my channel. The only reason I even keep it up is because it gets so many views and for some reason people keep watching it. Like I said(or tried to) at the very beginning, it's not hate, it's more laughing at how the outside world must view us, we sit around and play train simulators for hours, I have spent the last three days straight doing nothing but create concept routes, slowly work on my existing projects, and download a few routes from various sites in a desperate attempt to get something slightly competent to run my massive collection of K&L Payware. Also San Juan is just as painful to watch, to be fair it's got a good production quality, and they seem to stay relatively up to date without feeling forced, but it's still non-animated voiceovers of Trainz footage, if you didn't know the voices you would have no idea who is speaking, and every problem or event in the series seems less serious, because it's being written from the perspective of talking trains.
@SCL36187 жыл бұрын
The Arctic Gamer Apologies for the previous comment coming across the way it did, but I tend to take constructive criticism better than coming at an old project of mine being "cringe worthy" (And yes, I know my voice acting is rough, that's half the fun lol). Wasn't trying to take a shot at your channel, better to have some work up than half of the comments I receive from channels with zero content or subscriber base. That's how it usually goes, take a look at the top views on my channel...All old and silly projects done when I was first starting out, yet people seem to love it. Much like this series, I never thought highly of the work, but viewers always watched and wanted more..so here we are. I haven t had much time to throw into sims lately, usually it's just a time killer and I'll occasionally have an idea- thus how half of these come to fruition. Having met and spent time around the guys behind San Juan, I can safely say they throw a ton of effort into their projects, and do a great job...I'll gladly reccomend them over my work lol. Still, appreciate you taking the time for a decently thought out reply.
@trainknut7 жыл бұрын
I enjoy the occasional conversation in comments, as opposed to the regular stream of insults and memes you normally see. One of these days, when I have put some distance between myself today and myself from seven years ago when I started this channel, I'll unprivate my whole video history, everything from when I was just some nerdy little kid reviewing Lego soldiers and Nerf guns, to when I was some edgy preteen making crappy Minecraft videos. But, for the time being, when I mostly use my account to shitpost, and catalog my viewing habits, I'll try to keep my channel somewhat professional. Also, I know how shitty it can be when somebody criticizes your work, I mean like I said, my most successful videos have been crappy throwaway projects, while videos I put real time and effort into get either overlooked, or overwhelmingly disliked. That said, I love to piss on things, that's part of the reason I have mostly abandoned this community, because there are so many people who are so easily offended when you criticize not only their work, but just the work of anybody they personally like. People need to take a joke, and accept criticism, instead of just flipping out and closing the thread.
