I will try adding a 1/2 cup light brown sugar to give them some color and more flavor, I think this type cookies take brown sugar anyway...and I think its the one egg vs two eggs that makes this dough hold the cookie's shape better....great recipe!

I looooovvve cake mix cookies!! I make them for Christmas!! I actually chill the pans once the mixture is scooped onto the pans, for 30 minutes. It makes for a more puffy rounded top cookie. But I love this way too! Fantastic share!!😘

Hey Zane, thanks for sharing.. I'm sure everyone LOVED 'em! Tho this vid is nearly a couple years old now, since... I've seen a couple versions of 'cake cookies' online. Your version & another that is just.. cake mix, 2 eggs, oil. That said, I had a recipe book from about 15 yrs ago & if not mistaken was Betty Crocker. Tons of recipes ALL about different ways to use boxed cake mix. One of, was a cookie recipe I used for yearSSSSSSSS. It's one I havent even seen here on YT, which kind of surprised me. I'm sure ANY would do just fine, but I think the original called for cake mix that was labeled 'moist' or 'pudding in the mix' (ha, thinking now... that MAY well have been aimed because, betty crocker PROB was the one to make those specifically, so they hoped it would get us to use their mix vs others. never thought of that before) Anyway, my son has LOOOOOOVED every version of these over the years & the ingred are the same, just the 'extras' can be swapped out. An absolute fav, simply because it's not only amazing, BUT.... because it's not a common variety EVER found in a bakery/groc store = Any boxed moist STRAWBERRY CAKE MIX. In a bowl, combine 1 stick of room temp BUTTER.... & 1 brick room temp CREAM CHEESE (this is where to never skimp... I always used FULL fat ones, never light & most of the time (unless huge sale or unavailable) only Philadelphia brand Cream cheese. Once combined, stir in 1 EGG... Add in box of cake mix... (this is where anything else can be substituted or added) I'd finally, stir in a couple hand-full's of good, white choc chips (if u can find 'em, there are small discs rather than chips of any kind... OMG, what a difference those make. You wouldnt think so, but... WOW, like little pockets of heaven!) I use a scoop like you did & before putting 'em on the tray.... roll 'em in a small bowl w/ powdered sugar. Bake... same. They come out all crackled looking &.... almost tastes like strawberry Quik... with a kick, the white choc chips. The little bit of powdered sugar baked in, too... AMAZING. Idk what the cream cheese does OR the 1 egg, but.. WOW. I've done a ton of varieties... esp these days w/ the growing choices of chip-types. If I can't find any discs, I've used a choc cake w/ broken up Ande's Candies or peppermint bark.. Yellow w/ heath or butterscotch chips.. Carrot cake w/ white choc disks (that & the powdered sugar, omg.. makes it like cream cheese frosting, kinda) Banana w/ nuts & a couple wh. choc chips... LEMON is another favorite... German Chocolate cake w/ caramels.... anything :) Key is: cake mix + 1stick butter, 1brick cream cheese, 1 egg.. rolled in powdered sugar. The darker the mix, the better looking the crackle. :) Just thought I'd share, in case interested in a different variety from a B/C cookbook, quite a few years ago. I'm sure work would love 'em too.. lol.. they'll ask you to be baking forever, now, sorry. ;) ENJOY!! Stay safe & be well.

Thanks for posting the recipe. I am certainly going to bake these. Love your apron . Please share who made it if you know. I collect aprons. Not only are they functional but you can find some really cute ones. I volunteer at a Habitat Restore and when I see that one has been donated it usually comes home with me. I have purchased some vintage ones that I love. I have one that my aunt made for me when I was first married and she embroidered Christmas bells on it. I no longer wear it but I do display it in my kitchen because it is so pretty and it reminds me of my aunt who is no longer with us. Can't wait to see what you will be cooking next. Have a good Sunday my friend!

I have been using my boxes as countertop trash bags if I'm cooking from one and I do the same thing. I stuff all of the rubbish from whatever I made and then I throw the Box away. I have been doing this since I was 8 years old. I might be inclined to add a tablespoon of molasses because brown sugar is made from sugar and molasses so I'm going to try it and see if it is golden brown and has that extra depth of flavor.

I just stumbled across your Channel and now you have a new subscriber. I looked at these cookies and I noticed something was wrong. I figured out it was the color as chocolate chip cookies are more golden and I think that's from the brown sugar. Also when I make cake mix cookies I substitute melted butter for the oil and I have been known do you use buttermilk in certain cookie flavors. I absolutely love your kitchen what I see of it! :-)

@AtHomeWithZaneR6 жыл бұрын
I’ve never doubled it, it really depends on how large you make the cookies. I got a little over 2 dozen out of the large ones I made. When I make a smaller size I typically get approximately 4 dozen.
