I know there's a video showcasing how to fix scratches on CDs and DVDs. Maybe with this fix, it could be possible to dump the other 2 discs. Also dump that modded Xbox or have someone dump it because it could have more to store inside its hard drive.

@@LogicLeftTheGame Unfortunately the discs were too far gone. We did an very light professional resurfacing, but it still didn't help. The discs were cleaner (far less scratched), but the data on them was still un-dumpable.

I still want to release some modern tools to load and edit pickles data, I am just very busy at work. I wrote the original maya exporters and level editing tools (worldbuilder) and most of the file formats for E.T. and later SCG PS1 titles (incl. pickles). I do still have some of that source code laying around. One issue is that code ran on windows 2000 and XP - Before releasing I would modify it to run on Mac and Linux since thats what I currently use .

Before you do anything else with the modded xbox, make sure to make a full img dump of it. Considering that it was mentioned in the previous video that they did use modded xboxs for game development, there's a possibility that there could be deleted dev builds sitting on it waiting to be found.

if any local game stores have an elm machine, they may be able to properly resurface those discs. They're wild machines and have fixed the most gnarly of discs.

I’ve been to one and it helped rescue our family’s old copy of Mario Party 4 that was in similarly used condition when it started skipping and throwing exception errors. Stackerz cannot be lost hope on that easily

You can Resurface discs quiet aggressively. You have nothing to lose by trying again and again. If the disc is scratch free and still doesn't work then that is a different issue.

Man, that second prototype was super close to fished!! Some debugging and a bit of polish it could of made a fantastic Demo Disc to send out to get people interested in the game. It's sad that Santa Cruze games went under before either of these games got released, it would of been fascinating to play them!!

I didn't think there'd be more, and more specifically, newer prototypes that were further along in development, as well as an idea for a multiplayer mode! Neat! 😄 As for “Stackers”, I'm surprised that there was also an idea to develop an (likely) officially licensed Tim Biskop video game. Had it been released, I imagine it'd would've introduced many gamers to his art. I mean, I had seen that there were GameCube games based on licensed Nickelodeon, Disney/Pixar, and Cartoon Network IPs, but licensing an artist?! Ooh that would've been cool.

A thing that may work to get that Stackers prototype to boot is a bit of petroleum jelly, I saw a video testing multiple methods of buffing scratches out of a game disc and a method that worked that wasn’t the skip dr (because those dev discs could be ruined by that apparently) is petroleum jelly, if it worked for that game, it should be a last ditch effort to see stackers for yourself

You should most definitely get the discs to a multimedia backup service. They have far more advanced tools for reading damaged discs. Those companies are so good at what they are doing, that they even managed to rip some files from a disc that wasn't even physically complete (Sonic Generations on the PSP).

Hope that xbox has the ftp built into the software menu, you could back it up that way without taking it apart. Also that disc drive for the og xbox, sometimes they just get stuck with those very old belts, use a paperclip to pop it out, and sometimes with a few open/close movements, you can occasionally get it to open on its own.

if you buy a bottle of novus fine scratch remover (number 2) and buy a optifix pro disc repair machine, put novus on the clean pad and then put the pad that has the novus in the right side of the machine, put the disc in and then press repair, wipe it off after and you should be able to fix it! (you will know if its done because it stops going when it is done)

Edit again: You can open an OG XBOX disc tray by sticking the pointy end of a paperclip somewhere on the console. I’m not sure where, but you can look that up.

I did the XBox port in a couple of weeks between jobs in early 2004 (I was visiting SCG and during my visit I did the port). I did also work on a PS2 version, though it was even less finished than the XBox version. So the XBox version actually only has a couple of weeks of effort into it.
