Homeworlds are by far my favorite expansion addition to this game - even if I don't play with the additional rules, the tokens make such an attractive way to display your reserves

I think that you've stumbled on a base mechanic for a Heritics/Chapterhouse-era Dune game. Protect and hide your home world while trying to re-establish your own Dune planet.

Homeworlds really spice up the game a bunch!

The home worlds mechanic is great. I was able to cripple the BGs as the occupier once they couldn’t use The Voice on me, it made killing leaders each turn while destroying their reserves so much easier for my alliance. Having good cards, and a strong leader while your enemy is weak is crucial to holding that home world. Love the discovery tokens too, more strategic options adds so much more variety to the game. All expansions on advanced is the best way to play for me.

I absolutely love the idea of the homeworlds. Another reason to keep troops in reserve, and the fact it makes the world feel bigger and more alive, but I am a bit worried that this might not be a very good way for a player to spend their resources. Obviously they need to be a side-show, and the main action needs to stay on Arrakis, but I feel like it's hard justify taking a fight at a disadvantage when you know you'll need to either keep reinforcing or eventually face defeat, in order to cripple an opponent. That said, i'm very inexperienced at the game, this might end up fitting nicely, I can't tell. Either way i'm excited to try this out.

It’s a risk/reward analysis each player will need to do on their turn, especially if they go early.

Bolster your own forces there. You have the advantage of being able to bring greater numbers. The native faction is limited to revival.
