Given the initial concentration and equilibrium constant (Ka ionization constant), how to calculate the equilibrium concentrations and final pH.
There is a miscalculation. X = 0.0033 not 0.012. I am sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks!

does the ionization constant for a weak acid change by the ph of the medium that the acid in ?

Hi Memo, No, the ionization constant (Ka) for a weak acid does not change with the pH of the medium. The ionization constant is a characteristic property of the acid itself and is determined by the equilibrium between the ionized and unionized forms of the acid. It is a constant value at a given temperature. However, the extent of ionization of a weak acid can change with pH. In a solution with a lower pH (more acidic), there are more hydrogen ions (H+) present. This can shift the equilibrium towards the unionized form of the acid, reducing its ionization. Conversely, in a solution with a higher pH (more basic), there are fewer hydrogen ions, which can shift the equilibrium towards the ionized form of the acid, increasing its ionization.

When I input the sqrt of 0.015*7.2x10^-4, I get the answer 0.0033 and not 0.012, what did I do wrong?

How did you get 0.012? I did it like 3 times and everytime I got 3.3×10^-3
