also a classic trick is taking the number that is multiplied by the 10 (4.9) and moving the decimal point over to make .49. Then you take the exponent (7) and subtract the decimal, 4.9 to get ~6.5 which is normally "close enough" on the MCATs

How do coefficients in a balanced equation affect the formula for solving pH for a weak acid? Or do they not affect it at all?

4.6*10-7 is between those two values, so we can approximate the pH by taking the -log of those values
