also a classic trick is taking the number that is multiplied by the 10 (4.9) and moving the decimal point over to make .49. Then you take the exponent (7) and subtract the decimal, 4.9 to get ~6.5 which is normally "close enough" on the MCATs

I was looking for this trick I totally forgot it I was doing 4.9 + 0.7 but its actually 7-0.49 thanks

How do coefficients in a balanced equation affect the formula for solving pH for a weak acid? Or do they not affect it at all?

in the end, you would make the coefficient the exponent and solve for the concentration

Where did you get the 1*10 ^-6 and 1*10 ^-7?

4.6*10-7 is between those two values, so we can approximate the pH by taking the -log of those values
