This video will go over a harder example for calculating gravida/para and GTPAL. It also includes common misconceptions such as twin births, ectopic pregnancies, and miscarriages.

Why not para 4?
@APTutor1 Жыл бұрын
Because para refers to the number of pregnancies that resulted in viable offspring. So, in this example here she successfully delivered 3 times, her child at 40 weeks, 36 weeks and her set of twins. The twins are often confused as they result in two living children, however they are born at the same time in the same birth (so only one birth occurred, even thought two offspring came out), and that is why para would be 3 and not 4. Hope this helps!

Gravida refers to the number of times a woman has been pregnant, regardless of the outcome. In this example here, she has been pregnant a total of 8 times including the current pregnancy, hence why her gravida is 8.

@@APTutor1 noo you are wrong ... There are only 5 pregnancy... In 5 pregnancy (1 currently,1 abortion and 3 ectopic pregnancies... And in 3 ectopic pregnancies a set of twins born at 39 weeks ,one born at 36 weeks and one born at 40 weeks )soo gravida will be 5.

@@AkashGupta-wh2ts Hi Akash. Ectopic pregnancies can never be viable, so unfortunately there is no way to give birth to offspring from an ectopic pregnancy. Therefore, she has had 3 additional pregnancies in addition to the 3 ectopic pregnancies, one abortion, and the current pregnancy. So, you would need to add up 3+5 and gravida is 8, not 5.
