Looked all over for this! Fixing an old sheet. Some sites said 4" less than the circumference; others said just use 4 yards. You are so right! This measurement makes perfect sense, and worked perfectly.

Hi Valrine, I bought my 5 yds of elastic. I’ve measured the middle of the two 60 in ends. And Am measuring the two long 80in sides. How much elastic do I use for each length? The long side and the shorter side…IS that also 2/3 of the 60. And 2/3 of the 80 inch as well..MATH is not my best skill! There is a name for that and it eludes me at the moment…mahalo

Hi @KathyinFlorida, if you are going around the entire sheet you will need to make your pocket to string the elastic through. Depending on how stretchy the elastic is, you will need to adjust how much of the 5 yards you use. You may want to watch this video to see if it helps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIC3pZSmlNymick

@MaryKoh-g4w you can figure out how far around the corner you want the elastic to go then calculate 2/3 of that and multiply by 4. (Consider the elasticity of the elastic)
