Check, please!
It’s the end of a great meal and the bill comes and you’re reaching for your phone to calculate the TIP. Put it away - there are some simple way to figure this one out on your own!

For this example, I’ll tip at 20 percent…
The easiest way to calculate this is to double the number before the decimal.
Let’s say your bill is $53.75. Round up to $54. Double it to get $108.
Move the decimal point one place to the left and we’re at $10.80 - which is 20 percent of your bill.
There’s another shortcut you can use - double the tax.
Back to your $53.75. Say the tax on the whole meal is $4.77. Round up to $5. Double the tax to get $10 - this is about a 19% tip.
The only thing to watch out for with this method, is rates can vary across the country, so double check if you're worried about under tipping.
