At 2:27 how h2/3 came to being? It was simply said it is h > 0. So how come its this fraction only?

You are right, I have noticed it too, I think it was overlooked as the derivative is supposedly to be (-h)^(1/3)/ -h

Exactly right. Here's why: Let's add a power of 1 or 3/3 to a divider. h^(1/3) / h^(3/3) = h^(1/3)*1 / h^(1/3+1/3+1/3)*1 = 1 / h^(1/3+1/3) = 1 / h^(2/3)

I can see that negative infinity and positive infinity are not the same, but while approaching a negatively infinite slope and a positively infinite slope, it seems to me that they are the same at the limit - namely they are vertical.

10:50 not always, for e.g. the derivative of 2x^2 is 4x, this is also a function in x but say f(x) = 5x. Here, the derivative of this function is 5 which is a constant and is not a function of x. Hence, it is not always possible that the derivative of a function is a function itself as well.

It depends on what the function is given. If the function is applied to vertical-line test and the line meet at most one point, then it is a function. But if the function have at least 2 points which are collinear vertically, then it isn't a function.

At 6:42, should it the tanget direction be same as 1st case as the graph is getting generated in 1st and 4th quadrant?

as mentioned earlier the derivative is the rate of change of y with respect to x at delta x and it was also equal to slope and slope of a function is the ratio of rise over run so derivative( slope of function) is not the function itself.

yeah exactly it is a scaler quantity not vector so it doesnot have a particular direction so it isn't a vector.

If f of x does not exist at 0 wat happens to a straight line that at any angle greater than 0 degrees goes through a value of zero. There is no slope at that point only greater or less than zero?

The derivate of a function would not be a function itself, I mean, we can define it as a function but it would not be a function related to the graph of the problem. The derivative is the rate of change in a specific point in the graph so it is the SLOPE of a line, and that line IS a function. Therefore the derivative is the slope of the tangent line´s function. Plz, correct me if I am wrong. The derivative of y=x(squr)2 is 2x. So using the y2-y1 = m(x2-x1) formula with any given point, would give us the tangent line to that point.

no way, because you divide by h^3/3. after simplification remains h^0 / h^1/3 = 1 / h^1/3

In 2:42 is the -h^2/3 /-h = -h^2/3-3/3 and therefore = -1/h^1/3? But isn't it suppose to be positive since -h^2/3 /-h will cancel out the negative sign.

If a the slope of a vertical line is dy/dx where dx = 0(which is undefined), then why don't we use limits to find the value of the slope?

THE SLOPE OF VERTICAL LINE IS INFINITY not defined OK GOOD BUT,, Limits will give us approximate value of the slope and not the EXACT VALUE of it.AND the EXACT value is NOTdefined at the critical point therefore the derivative is undefined and hence we cant use limits to find exact values of slopes AT X=0 ON CURVES SHOWING VERTICAL LINES ON SHARP turns ,, and is not in the existence as it will either approach a very v v large/small no. AND U KNOW WHAT..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................BASICALLY I FORGOT THE PUNCH LINE AND TRYNNA RECALL......................................................................................BUT COULDN"t SRRY VRO ?

Am I wrong? At 6:53 to say tangent line doesn't exist will be wrong as we can draw a tangent at both Vertical Cusp and Vertical tangent...what we cannot evaluate is at what rate it is changing i.e that's what a differentiation at a point suppose to say...

The last derivative formula is wrong because it is written that from the left the approaching limit of z(x)=x^(1/3) that is z(0-h)-x(0)/-h is equal to -h^(-2/3) and the positive side approaching limit derivative actual value is h^(-2/3) approaching both to 0 we get negative and positive infinity respectively
