The past 3 videos building up on discontinuous functions and non defined depravities have been brilliant. I have a suggestion . Don't skip a step in simplifying functions when demonstrating the derivative formula (i think somewhere in the past 4 videos this was done ). Remember there could be learners coming in from any background not college students who are already studying this. Sal Khan of khan academy goes all the way even if it seems redundant or obvious. Cheers b

If an Auto-correct Function of a text editor changes 'derivatives' to 'depravities' does the Auto-correct function have a derivative or is it depraved?

Does anyone know why we use limit "X" tends to zero and we don't use limit "delta X" tends to zero? (at minute 4:20)
@YourLocalCafe3 жыл бұрын
That is actually mistake.
@radhikatiwari66493 жыл бұрын
We use it as point x tends to point 0 on the graph but delta X is not a point on the graph line it is the difference between 2 points.

when we get a derivative of x^2 as 2x does it mean that when time was 1 second then the speed of the object was 2m/s and when the time was 2 speed of object was 4m/s and when time was 3 speed was 6m/s please help me in this regard i will be very grateful to you

7:30 Just a curiosity ...Why when describing limit its x which is always tending to 0... though function is f(t) or s(t)? I mean hat x has to do here.... 't' is the independent variable here... right? ...rather its delta t that is tending to 0 not even t I guess. Or is it a convention to describe limit like that?
@jasskhushalani56399 ай бұрын
i don't really know much as i have just started learning it, but i believe it should be t approaching 0, as i've seen at several places.

9:33 Can someone please explain how come a derivative is not a ratio? Because for instance, the derivative of a distance and time function actually represents speed. and speed is distance divided by time. I would very appreciate an explanation to my misunderstanding. Thank you very much :)
@petersmith8094 жыл бұрын
Ratio has no dimension (units). And change of distance wih time as a dimension of LT^(-1). Derivative isn't a ratio since speed isn't a ratio.
@YourLocalCafe3 жыл бұрын
The notation of a derivative sort of throws people off, what dy/dx actually means isn't dy divided by dx, rather it means the rate of change of y as x changes (by very small amounts ofc). So to clear up your doubt, say velocity=dx/dt, where x is the displ. and t is the time, therefore dx/dt does resemble the formula of velocity, but it actually means is the rate of change of displacement as time changes (that is goes on) that is how much displacement per unit is being increased or decreased. Which is velocity itself. So i hope your doubt was cleared. :)
