Man that inside work was a thing of beauty. Was really great to see Plant turn that fight around and finish from the inside with a flurry, those constant peels and weaves and guard control was like fine art. Bless Sir Gems!

Better than most champs. Unlucky for him to have Canelo and Benavidez around his weight. His jamming style would have backfired against either. Still incredible performance.

@@enigmatum he's already fought both... Better than most...I think Caleb is a pound for pound 1 of the top 10 boxers or 15 boxers in the world... Slick tough gritty and he's been tested... He's the Shawn Porter of the 168 pound division... Buddy will fight anybody

Since linking up with Breadman Edwards, Plant has took a noticeable jump in skill/intangibles. He was still very good before but Justin Gamber had him on some bullshit. Can’t wait to see what his future looks like, Munguia/Plant seems like the move.

Great breakdown! Part of me wants to believe plant overlooked mccumby a bit as it was visible leading up to the fight he had no respect for mccumby and his credentials or resume. Or maybe it really was just a case of an unorthodox fighter finding success against a sharp world class fighter

Plant reminds me of Kobe so much. He doesn’t have a weak chin but it’s definitely not elite, he has some power but it’s far from elite, everything he’s accomplished is from hard work and using his iq.

Definitely overall one of the better performances by Plant…he showed improvements on the inside and had the conditioning to throw his combinations consistently in the fight…McCumby was very strong and explosive but he had no game plan and no skills to compete as the fight went on…I’d really want to see Plant vs Munguia, I think that would be a great fight and another test for Plant to see if he can improve against fighters that push him back, especially with the volume that Munguia brings….

You saw the same type of punches coming from David and Canelo. Kind of awkward punching wide. It’s always tough to back Caleb up into the ropes. David punches looked wide until Caleb got tired in the later rounds.

When broken down like this, you can really see McCumby got punished on the inside game. Seeing his head snap back in slow motion is brutal

So, taking a step back or a lateral step is now part and parcel of setting a “trap’? Hahahahaha. There’s not a single definition of the term-neither connotative nor dictionary-satisfied by such typical defensive steps. Of course the more aggressive fighter follows; that’s boxing, its standard choreography. And of course the lighter-footed fighter is first to set his stance; it’s only natural for him to catch the slower fighter in transition; that’s precisely how the former demonstrates his foot speed. A trap, whether it’s deployed by a hunter or as it’s applied in the sport of boxing, is a very specific tool or technique that both requires and reflects a great deal of tact, craft, knowhow. I’d hate to see it become some sort of cheap cliche or even cheaper catchall.

Caleb one of my favorites to watch, his coach and team made a perfect adjustment at the second half of the bout. It was probably always part of their game plan to change tactics from tiring to dismantling their opp, but getting knockdown added pressure and just highlights that momentum shift even more.

I think David beats him again in a tough fight
@HankRHillАй бұрын
Nah honestly I think Plant definitely gets stopped if they ever fight again, David said if he could do it again he’d start even earlier at breaking down Caleb since he said his power was too light, breadman already almost stopped it twice in the first match.
@BodyBagz87Ай бұрын
@@HankRHill but see when Benavidez turns on the gas early, he ends up gassing out midway through the fight. Also Benavidez can’t fight off of the back foot, that pressure he hit McCumby with was the equalizer. And just because he said that’s what he would do doesn’t mean that’s what would happen. I like both fighters but with what Plant showed us in that last fight is why I said I’d like to see a rematch, fighting in a phone booth (on the inside) is something we’ve NEVER seen him do and I think it would be hella effective considering David’s reach. Idk it’s just my opinion man
