'Finesse' is an excellent word to describe what Dimash does. His amazing range isn't the strongest characteristic of his performances; rather, it's his subtlety, his finesse, his firm control over every vocal technique he employs, and his choices as to how to use those techniques to convey a story. I agree, he's very deliberate in how he ends a note; if there's a cry there, it's because he *put* it there. Just as amazing is his uncanny ability to sustain a note. It's perfect: never wavering, never changing pitch or tone or volume, it's just there, like a steel I-beam, fixed in place. The conclusion to 'Love Is Like a Dream' illustrates the point. His last note is held for 18 seconds, and for most of it, he doesn't use vibrato. It's a virtuoso performance from start to finish. He released that song in April 2019, I think, so it's an opportunity to find out if he is maturing in his art. My gut feel is, yes, he's actually improving his mastery as he goes. Dimash is daring, almost extreme, in his use of breathy vocals, too, on occasion. He uses a lot of those in 'Sinful Passion.' You have whetted my appetite for your English version of 'SOS.' It's a beautiful song. I hope your copyright request is successful!

Thank you for your analysis. Autumn Strong (Late Autumn), Daididau (Bastau Concert) and Daybreak (Bastau Concert) always bring me tears. Dimash conveys the emotional story-telling with great detail. Daybreak at Singer 2017 was difficult for Dimash since he was sick. But his Bastau performances were just awesome.

Wow, with every song he shows a new ability. This tone of voice is very beautiful. I love how he changes his voice for every song, and the fact that his voice never strains makes it easy to follow the story and the emotional tone. He and Diana both captivate their audiences. And what's amazing is that this is a Chinese song. The way he sang it perfectly fit the mood, and explained why everyone was captivated and crying.

This is my favorite Dimash performance for it combines beauty, emotional intensity, and artistic integrity, unlike SOS, which is a contest display piece and understandable for that reason. I would be very interested in your comments on Love Is Like a Dream, particularly as I think he is giving in too much to his audience's expectations when he does not end the song at the pause, but continues on with a belt.. But the song demonstrates his emotional power and beauty at lower registers. And please do a review of Diana Ankudinova's "Rechenko" and "Human."

Thank you, Caleb, again for your profoundly informative and knowledgeable comments. --Dimash did not speak any Mandarin Chinese at the time of this performance in 2017. He had learned the lyrics from a phonetic transcript in a WEEK. The Chinese audience, not knowing the tragedy behind the song, sang along but many of them were also in tears, believing that this is a love song (well, in a way it is). The part with no lyrics, Dimash singing just vowels, is of his own devising. At his London concert on 19 November 2018 he started his performance with a longer intro of his own composition. And it is so indescribably beautiful. -- Mrs Li Xiang Lan (Yoshiko Panaguchi) served, many years later, as the Japanese Minister of Culture and, in that capacity, she paid an official visit to China. So she did see China again. She asked her hosts about his husband, but was told that he had died. They failed to tell her that her husband had been executed, charged with his having "worked in cahoots" with the enemy during the war.

There are emotional performances, technically perfect performances and entertaining performances. He combine all three of them and it makes him as powerful as a nuclear bomb. His ability to mixes pop, rock, opera, rap, hip hop and r&b music, in his own unique way makes him a favorite singer to fans of any style of music. Dimash is like a bullet with a shifted center - he enters through the ears and eyes, passes through the brain, pierce the heart and stuck into the soul. You do not need to know the language, to be able to feel the emotions, which he inject into the audience with his incredible talent to recreates the text and the melody into a body dance. He paints pictures in your mind, only with his voice. That's Dimash. Thanks for that reaction!

Yes, Caleb, you say "Wow" alot! What else, really, CAN you say?!?!? "Wow" really covers this guys ability like no other explanation can! I ran across Dimash, Opera 2 on KZbin as "Best voice in the world!" I was very skeptical. After hearing him and listening to his u paralleled ability to seamlessly move into any tone, I must admit, I have not heard ANYONE with his abilities! "Best in the world"? Any one want to challenge.....? I'll listen!!

It's one thing to have great vocal technique and range, it's another to figure out how to use it. Others who might have significant skills usually gave up and stuck to one tone or just a part of their range. Dimash used to want to do it all in every song if possible. This is very risky if the voice fails to execute a difficult transition at some critical moment but also that the interpretation will get lost amidst the technique. This song showed his mastery of both artistry and technique to create something both deeply moving and astonishingly beautiful. No one can coach someone into a performance like this and no arranger can take credit for it because so much is what is done by the singer. It comes from within Dimash and is, to my ears unprecedented and unparalleled. This is the kind of performance that deserves to be heard on the world stage.
@ubervocal87775 жыл бұрын
The original songwriter has performed a very different, simpler version of this song that is very touching. He is a well respected Japanese singer and songwriter.

His mother is more responsible for his training as she was an opera singer and understood the voice and discipline, knowing and teaching power, range and most of all control of the vocal cords and understanding what exactly is going on at every moment and note. How to breathe and control the diaphragm and release of air volume. So it is not just Dimash and his ability, without the training of his mother his ability would just be average. So give credit to where it is do, to his mother. She laid the foundation for Dimash, and now as a man, he will have to grow into his own style as a performer, but the foundation came from many years of training since childhood and I would even believe while he was still within his mother as she sang ….he listened.

Caleb, you have quickly become one of my favorite YT reactors. ❤ I would like to propose something a little different for your next reaction. A double reaction. I think it will give you a great appreciation for the hard work that Dimash puts into ALL aspects of his performance. One of the areas of stage performance that does not come naturally to Dimash is dancing. It is tremendously hard work for him, but if the Dears want it... (we are so spoiled 😉). This double reaction will also highlight his english improvement. There is about 2 years between the two performances.... Ep 5 of Singer - Uptown Funk (Bruno Mars cover)... competitors were required to sing a song not in their typical genre. Give Me Your Love - Moscow concert (March 2019) - Dimash wrote this song as a tribute to MJ. I think you'll enjoy the contrast and I would love to hear your comments from your perspective as a stage performer. Do you agree, Dears?

Thank you, beautiful reaction .. 👍👍👍 Dimash succeeds to tell a story with his body language and especially his voice. So much feeling, so many emotions. Every song he sings is a roller coaster ride of emotions ... (Sorry, my english is not so god.. )

Greetings of Peace Dimash…! And to all the personnel’s who worked with you, and all others who did the translation, produced videos and uploaded it on line. My heartfelt gratitude to the reactors worldwide for your great help and services, so that artists can improve and or develop their talents and gifts at their best in order to serve better the listening public. I still browse the music videos of Dimash from time to time to see what still store in there. I’m just wondering how much effort and strength Dimash had invested into it and to reach such a powerful voice and the many other talents that he had. Indeed it is really a great work. How he was able to develop such a heights of his talents is really admirable and worth learning. And it is much more beautiful because he sang it by heart, naturally and at his heart’s content with joyful disposition. The discipline, courage, dedication and high ideals in pursuing his singing career to the best of his ability the best he can is worth imitating not only in our individual professional fields but also in living our day to day life. Hope Dimash listeners around the world especially the young will learn something from his optimistic views in pursuing his career, his persistency, courage, creativity and perseverance. His labors and hard work are now indeed bearing fruits in abundance. And so my heartfelt congratulations to him and to his family and all others who supported him all the way through as a musician. For me as a listener it counts a lot the personal disposition of the singer and the content of its music. My other concern whenever I listen to music is that, I usually ask: WHAT MESSAGE THIS MUSIC BRINGS ..? TO THE WORLD..? TO PEOPLE..? Although all his music are very good, full of content and meaning but I like most this music, because for me it speaks a message of truth, values and realities of human life. I feel that, it is not just enough to give my thumbs up to like this music, but I’m deeply moved to share something more about the richness and deeper meaning of it. With due respect to the composers, writers and singers of these music for whatever their purpose and intention would be, will always take precedence. The thoughts that I will be sharing below about these music is only the fruits of my personal reflections based on the things that I highly valued and on how I perceived it myself and the message of this song that reaches out to me. The power and beauty of his voice is so incredible. The fact that he is able to sing his music with ease and comfort even in a very high notes and or in lowest notes in different languages and in various voices are really amazing. But some others too, cannot handle and cannot even believe the power, the strength and the heights of his voice…and they wonder and said oooh… is Dimash human..? I think It’s just a natural reaction that people wonder and probably surprise by it or cannot believed it at all, it’s because it is beyond human expectation. But I believed and are convinced that Dimash 20 year’s cultivation of his voice and talents is no tricks and no magic at all; though he is really gifted but his hard work and years of practice and experiences proves it to us and to the world … that indeed it is possible. For all those who read these reflections and commentaries of mine about this piece of music mostly performed by Dimash. If you think it is helpful for you, for your family and friends you can share it to them as you please, and I do really appreciate it. Or maybe you might have a different reflection experience of this music than mine; you can always revisit this music or other music of Dimash on line. Your own personal comments and critics to this commentary and reflection of mine is very much welcome and highly appreciated too. Song of Dimash “AUTUMN STRONG” (Ester Rabi’s Commentary & Reflection on this song: I like this music because it reminds me to be grateful, appreciate the unique and richness of Foreign Services across cultures) Any foreigner who contributed their great services and good things in other countries should be acknowledged and deserve honor and respect. If ever they violated some rules of that country, or make some offenses or rather misbehave sometimes, probably some legal investigation will be done by the legal authorities to clarify things and settle the matters properly and justly in a good manner. We should not be rush to go into judgment without any lawful proceedings. If the case is great and they are found guilty some disciplinary actions will be taken soon for correctional reasons. But if the case and issues is just a minor and little thing, why we should be harsh to them..? Could we not give them some other chances…? It does not mean that we should always tolerate all the time the misbehaviors but rather we should remember that all of us are not perfect as well, all the time; we commit mistakes every now and then. Remember the Golden Rule… I believed that it is not also easy for foreigners all the way through, living, working and serving in other countries where everything are new to them, they have to adjust themselves, I supposed they also try their best to do good and give their utmost quality service to the place where they are. Indeed we should be grateful to them for whatever good contribution they have to the society. I believed that people will not resists to change when we show them our love and concerns and leads them towards goodness and truth without being harsh to them, this is the real facts and irony of it, that the more we are cruel or harsh to people seems the more they are resistance to change. Many times because of human weakness, even if the person just commit a little bit of offense seems we forgot everything good they have done, and we just see and focus only and overpower by the little mistake that they did. If we let anger prevail in our hearts surely we become blinded to see the good deeds in people. And if this behaviors continues to settle in our hearts how painful it is, we cause in other people’s hearts especially to the foreigners. Once again, thank you for your music and service to us. Rest assured of my support with you. God Bless..!. With Gratitude, Ester Rabi, Philippines
