So he started with $27k, and "consolidated" it to $400/month. He's been going for 4 years, which means he's already paid *almost $20,000*, and he still owes $15k. So, the company has pocketed $7000, or 35% of the amount he's paid. What a scam. 😬

I was raised on eating out. It was just the way we did things. I’m in a crazy amount of debt and my parents are in and out of various amounts of debt too. The fact that if you’re in debt you don’t eat out BLEW MY MIND. It wasn’t until I saw Caleb berating people and calling it lazy that I even realized. I mean, we have to eat right?? How can I cut down that spending?? I wanted to learn to cook for fun, but now we cook almost every night and eat leftovers for lunch the next day. It hurts when we eat out and it’s a quarter of our groceries bill for the whole week
@iratespoonbill1652

Caleb categorized eating out in the entertainment budget in another video. Categorizing it this way could help you continue to see eating out as something that's not groceries, but a form of entertainment that must be budgeted.
@LOLZHAHANOTFUNNY
@LOLZHAHANOTFUNNY Жыл бұрын
Agree completely, great job turning around your mindset! It makes me so mad when I hear people online justifying that eating out is cheaper than grocery shopping, because they're comparing $30 or $40 a day of eating out to $100 a week of groceries. I've budgeted for 5 straight years, my eating out budget is now $300 per month and entertainment is $200. All of our groceries for a family of 3 are $450. We have big fun budgets now because we have paid off debt and saved aggressively for years and are now loosening up. But the cost is easily 5 to 6 times higher to eat a meal out vs cook. Multiplied by 2 or 3 for family members, the cost sky rockets! ☠️

I think that is the good thing about this show. Most people will find something recognizable in some of the participants in the show. Whether it is eating out for no reason, financing an car that is too expensive, or being taken advantage of by those around us. Sometimes seeing something in others allows us to reflect on things happening in our own lives. These financial audits are as much a financial audit of the person sitting there as they are a financial audit of different parts of the audience. Caleb is well aware of this and he knows he helps much more than a single person with every video he makes. .

Where I'm from we have no credit card culture and being in bad debts is not common in any way. And it would often look like wow, people in the US live so lavishly, the young people seem to be just enjoying life to the fullest. But then you listen to all these young people and in a sense they *do* live a lavish lifestyle - going to eat out multiple times a week, ordering food, getting new cars etc. etc. - but in actuality they literally have no money, they're drowning in debt. That's so incredibaly scary to look at.

Id even recommend he goes without a car for six months (or until all but the student loans are gone) and pay his roommate or someone else to use their car once and awhile. Then use that extra 800 to 1000 to set up an emergency fund and pay down all but the student loans, then get a 10k car. He'll be out of the stressful debt much sooner.

I went out and got a new job and finally this month I hit my bonus so I ordered the shoes tonight (while they were on sale, too). I didn’t finance them when I was broke, I just waited and waited and set those shoes as a goal and when I got there, I rewarded myself with the thing I had been wanting. Cars are one of my hobbies so I only own old stuff. One of them is just a 2003 pathfinder I use for work but that age of vehicle does need work. Probably $2k a year in maintenance which is almost equivalent to a brand new cheap little car financed. It depends what you drive, yes this 4Runner is too pricey but sometimes I think a $20k brand new car with bumper to bumper warranty could actually be financially beneficial. Not to mention less breakdowns and stress.

You would be surprised the number of teens who think credit cards are free money. You rack up 10k in debt and it only costs you a few hundred a month on minimum payments. There are a LOT of people who don't understand what that costs in the long run. It sounds like common sense, but I literally know people who leased a car with their parents and DIDNT UNDERSTAND that it's basically a rental. Parents advising kids to pay 600+ a month for their car and insurance to lease... It's crazy out there.
