On the advice of working 80 hours per week- *PLEASE* approach this with caution. Your health is a lot like your finances, in that the bad choices you make in the moment may not show immediately, but they can and will make an impact in the future! Overworking yourself dramatically increases risk of cardiovascular issues (which are the leading cause of death in the US), obesity, sleep deprivation, and bone/joint disorders. These conditions in and of themselves often have fatal ramifications later in life, but overworking in can also lead *directly* to death.... For example, I personally had a coworker who worked 16 hour shifts every day for over 3 months with NO days off, and she died *at work* from what was medically declared as an "exhaustion induced cardiac arrest." This even made local headlines. Obviously, she was working more than 80 hours per week, but the point is to know your own limitations. Working 80+ hours a week typically results in an over 60% increase in heart disease risk! *You can't enjoy retirement if you kill yourself trying to earn it* My personal advice would be to move the fuck away from Austin and live somewhere way cheaper. Hell, Texas has some of the most affordable places to live! Go rural! Employment is generally non-competitive and cost of living is significantly lower.

You need a resumee, all applications are online. I do not have an online "resumee" for Shari's. I'm nearly 46, and NOBODY hires middle aged and beyond-nobody WANTS us. They see young people as needing it more than us. That is why they are "desperate". Young folks advance, they refuse to to hire mature workers, so they now HAVE none!

I keep seeing this all the time in Social Media - not just older people but younger people are affected too. Stores and restaurants with lots of signs - people apply and don't even get an interview. Where I live, we have lots of older workers at McDonalds, Tim Hortons (Canada's coffee shop) and Home Depot. To me it's a good thing and every region would be different. If employers are stuck on the 'young workers' thing they are missing the boat when it comes the demographic changes coming down the line.

@@andreaberryman5354 I am going to say no - I am not very different from you in age and it would not be hard to go out today and get a job at any hotel or restaurant. Yeah, you may need to type up an electronic resume, which you can do at any local library, but most workers our age have a soft copy of their resume. How is it that most nice restaurants have workers our age as wait staff if they are unwilling to hire someone our age? How is it the housekeeping and desk staff at most hotels are our age if they are unwilling to hire people our age? Again, I am sorry but no. In fact the latest batch of unemployment numbers even show individuals our age are the most employed right now - almost no workers in their 40’s actively looking are out of work right now

@Lack of Sleep my state university is about $10k per year. Our university has a program where if we take over 12 credits per semester, we still only pay for 12. Maximum amount being 18 credits at any given time. Our state gives us $8K towards school our first year. My 4 year degree will be done over the course of 2.5 years for a total of $25k. $25k - 8k = $17k that I'm responsible for (before any scholarships, which I won't know about until closer to fall). I will be working part time during the school year, and full time over the summers. Plus I have about $5K already saved up. So as long as I can come up with $12k over the course of 2.5 years, I'll be okay. 🤷‍♀️ it's definitely not doable for everyone but it just so works out in my situation. I do have $15k in my 401k that I plan to cash out when I quit my full time job. Probably not Caleb-approved, but I'm going to do it. 🤷‍♀️ I have plenty of time to save for the rest of my life after college.

When I got in to grad school I started working 70 hours a week on top of school/research (no funding), and since then I’ve been making the climb back up. I was a courtesy clerk at a grocery store and personal trainer as well. Paid off my credit card debt and started saving a bit every month, but no investments. Now, my fiancé and I pull in ~115K with both of us receiving merit increases that should total ~20k more, I was able to max my Roth IRA last year and am on track to max again and opening a traditional. I wouldn’t have done the IRA without watching these videos. World’s smallest violin, but it sucked to have to budget at first after having such an easy life, it was so foreign to me. I was very moved by his story. It's not easy to share our hopes and struggles. Sending him positive energies. Caleb, you care so much for others, your inspiration was amazing.

Go through a temp agency. They hire anyone and everyone. On top of that, if you have a good work ethic you will get hired on fully. That's how I got my current job repairing servers that go to xray machines.

Caleb, I’m a newer subscriber here and have been watching every video I can. This one really pulls at my heart. I admire the innate strength he has to push through and do what he has to do to survive. I am rooting for him! I truly believe he can do this! His communication is top notch, he listened to you, is open to learning the things he doesn’t know, and I would love to hear an update now that it’s been several months! I’m rooting for him!!

An ex of mine told me when I got my first 9-5 not to opt into the 401K cuz I didn’t need it. I was 20 at the time, now I’m an accountant and am so glad that I was able to open it at an early age.

All young actors, young comedians, gender studies PHD candidates, etc. need to watch this guy. He is one of the stories of not making it but having no other options but to keep digging holes

dude, I used to live off Parmer and I promise he hasn't applied at "50 places". If he has, he's applying for bartender/management positions which, in Austin, are networked jobs. I know that look well he puts on when Caleb brings up fast food. That's a "I'm 46 and too good" for that kind of work. Trying for a comedy career at 46 isn't ideal in this economy and he'd be further along at 3 years in if he had livable talent. He needs a dose of reality
