Caleb, a visual aid would help your guests conceptualize your ideas/plans much easier. Writing out your monthly plans, on a white board or excel file, while you think them out loud would be tremendously beneficial. It's hard for non financial people (as you obviously know already) to understand these concepts without actually seeing the numbers move month over month. For example, when you say "in month 1 take this leftover 1k and pay off this $800 debt and 200 to this other one, now you have an additional $100 of unused minimum payments so you can put 1.1k next month towards this 5k card and save x amount on interest because of it"...Showing them how those would move MoM and how quickly they can erase certain debts would give them a clearer understanding and i think you would see a serious boost in commitment. Regardless, good stuff with these videos. I typically agree with 95% of your takes and plans on these situations and I commend you for taking time to help these people who would otherwise never receive the advice they need.

Would you have listened as a high schooler? I have a 15 year old and have been considering what I can do to help him not learn things the way I did. Because -- my parents tried when I was in HS. I remember it. And yet, it took getting out and making money on my own -- having bills that HAD to be paid before I started to understand. Oh and a friend I respected heavily recommending _The Only Investment Guide You Will Ever Need_ by Andrew Tobias in my young adult ages. And it still has taken recommitting to over and over at different stages (Crown Finacial Ministries when I was newly married. The Budget Mom within the last year or so) -- and not prevented letting things get out of control. All it takes for me is letting my finances go back on autopilot and things spiral again.

Awesome! Don't stop there. Learning how to save money is only one very basic but crucial step. I quit my job 10 years ago, and 2022 was the first year I made over a million dollars. Learn how money works very important. The first lesson is that ALL money is debt and is created without any effort by a private company that has a monopoly on creating money(debt)

Great episode, as naive as she was about her own finances, and she did also have a few built up excuses, but overall she accepted personal responsibility for her situation, was very accepting of Caleb's guidance, there are few people who come on here and seem as determined and willing to learn as she was and after the first couple excuses she was pretty okay to be told why she was wrong. And held no anger or resentment about Caleb taking her cards and cutting them before she agreed to do so. While I think that was exactly the push she needed, it's very much pushing the line of what you can be doing to help people
@elijimenez7710 Жыл бұрын
How is it pushing the line? If she wants she can call that company to send her a new card. They will happily send it to her so she can keep spending.

I think she can do this! She wants to go back to having fun as soon as she can, so she will bust her ass to get there as quick as she can!! Can't wait to see a follow up on her story! You got this girl!!!!

Caleb ✂️ with credit 💳 was absolutely badass!!!! But I loved it even more when she cut the second one. In the end she seemed to take it all in. Wishing her every success!

She is so sweet. I hope her parents see this and are supportive. Once she starts making more money she'll hopefully do really well applying what she's learned. Not making enough income makes everything harder

This was my favorite exchange! You could see her fight to cut the cards but did so because deep down she knew it was right. Finance is all mentality, and she is taking the steps!!! Super great to see

This channel makes me feel much less behind than I actually am. Currently have a 6k emergency, and 20k in investments at 31. Hoping to save 20k a year for at least the next 4 years to max my TFSA. It's rough, but doable on my pay. I give myself 100 a month for "fun" and hand-made all my gifts last year. Had way too much fun in my early years. Two years into my grind to reset. No debt left, have a shitbox car, and a stable job. The re-affirmation this channel gives to my current goals helps a bit. So thank for the videos. Next step is increasing income through another stream.

Obsessed with this series. Wish you would do a podcast with people from other states, would be so interesting to listen to! You've inspired me to buckle down and be uncomfortable for a short period for long-term freedom.

You're killing it Caleb. You give the most realistic and applicable (not official) financial advice out of all of the financial gurus I've watched. I really appreciate your dedication to providing solutions that ACTUALLY keep up with todays economy. I wish I could send all Dave Ramsey followers to your page, but I will never stop recommending this channel to friends

I would love to see a follow up in the next 6-7 months. At least she's taken in everything you've advised her on which seems promising so I hope that she manages to stick with it and does well!

Seriously, my friends and I watch all your videos!! Please keep it up! I was busting out laughing with you cutting up the card!!! I know you might not see this, but a good way to let people still have "fun" is by letting them still go out with friends, HOWEVER, they can just sit there with them at the bar or Restaurant, they dont need to spend. The vast majority of people just want the company while they eat or drink. I use to do this in college and after I explained to people "I ate before and just trying to save, but I love chilling with you so dont worry I dont have food, its fun for me" After that, even more people would ask me out to go chill and stuff and I never spent a dime, but had a blast! So people can still go do things, just pre eat and stuff, then go. I recommend this becuase lots of the time people freak out that they "cant live life", but there are great ways to not spend and still have fun.
