When you drill in for the screws is it OK to hit the cooler? It sounds like you knocked it pretty good. How hard is it until you would make the cooler leak?

You can hit the cooler just don't let the drill bit spin and drill into it

Are the adhesive ones worthwhile? I don't like the idea of drilling holes in my sled. :)
