Polaris Matryx DIY tunnel cut

Polaris introduced the all new Matryx mountain sled for 2022. Tunnel redesign with the tapered extension was a welcome new design to help deep snow performance. How much the tunnel drags behind you in the snow can be a detriment to the skilled mountain rider and cutting length off the tunnel has become a common modification. Now that the tunnel coolers don't run all the way back on the Matryx, a tunnel cut is easier than ever.

Thanks for the video, been wanting to do this to my slash as I found it just a little too long last year dragging the bumper and even exploded a tail light housing. I like my bumper directly over center of the axle. One question? Couldn't a guy just take a compass scribe set it to 3" and follow the lines of the rear tunnel piece speeding up the process and eliminating some room for error that is there by using painters tape and measurements?

Yes, there’s a number of different ways to do it. Just want to make sure it’s 100% where you want it and makes correctly before you cut.

Great work. What size rivets did you put in to attach the extension piece on the tunnel? Were they factory from Polaris? Trying to figure out what I need to order. Thanks

I just used standard 3/16 pop rivets

Did you drill and tap new holes in the bumper to re mount it? Or drill new holes in the tunnel? Seems like on the non slash I will need to cut my bumper down but then need to drill and tap some new holes in it. Hmm

I used an aftermarket bumper. If I was going to use the factory bumper I would just drill new holes to match up the threaded holes in the factory bumper.

@@mountainsleddergarage8627 yea that's what I'm thinking. Except that the factory bumper will protrude way down into the running boards. I may cut some of it off.

I have a 165 slash boost. Is it possible to measure a 155 slash tunnel and cut off that exact amount and then run the 155 slash backwoods bumper? I wanted to get a 155 but could only get a 165 this year.

Yes you can. You could get the bumper and then cut off what you need to fit the bumper
