After 185+ hours in IXION, these are the mid-to-late game sector layouts I broke the in game economy with.
I have all 6 sectors open in my Tiqqun. Sector 1 is my space sector - this sector has Space Specialization Tier 2 and functions as the main hull repair hub of the station. Sector 2 is my industry sector - this sector has Industry Specialization Tier 1 and functions as the industrial heart of the station. Sector 3 is my population sector - this sector has Population Specialization Tier 2 and functions as the living quarters of all the non-workers and colonists on board the Tiqqun, in addition to providing the Exo Fighting Dome for the station. Sector 4 is my food sector - this sector as Food Specialization Tier 1 and use a setup of 4 crop farms, which is more than sufficient to supply the entire population on board the station. Sector 5 is my utility sector which functions as a jack-of-all-trades sector. Sector 6 is my recycling sector - this sector has Recyling Specialization Tier 2 which is a rather hard specialization to unlock due to space constraints - but I even managed to fit a Nuclear Power Plant in this sector.
Note that there may be spoilers in the video.

If you've got upgraded steel mills then storing iron is better than alloy. Same for carbon vs polymer. I've also used less quarters in my living space sector to fit a health center there instead of in sector 1. The spot in sector 1 is replaced with 3 domotic quarters and one hull temple. This leaves more room in the middle for other things such as storage and/or batteries. Have as close to 50% of the population in each sector live in cell housing. They produce more waste per person. Means you can run the water treatment center more and not spend time gathering ice.

I recommend having recycling specialization on your main food sector, you can easily achieve tier 2 specialization in both food and reclycling by using mushroom walls. I have mine set up in a way where I still have space for a drone bay, docking bay and fusion reactor (+housing and other basics ofc). By the end of chapter 3 I produced more than enough waste to supply all the mushroom walls in my food/reclycling sector and 3 waste processing which I had in a different sector.

Excellent guide, thank you very much for that. One question though: I don't see any Alternative Live Centers in your layouts. Is there really no need for them? Edit: Oh, I see one in the industrial sector. But with 3 Domotic Housing you don't even reach 400 population in that sector for the 1st +1 Stability not to mention 800 for the +2 bonus. Did I miss something important? :)

@olivierrodriguesneto5995 Жыл бұрын
I used in mine, in a bunch of sectors actually as I had more than one with population over 800. And while their buff is pretty good I think you can definetly go without them and save some space, keep in mind that what you are seeing there in the stability is basically most if not all the debuffs you will get in the entire game. Keep in mind that once you unlock the exo fighting arena and it's upgrades you get some nice buffs with all sectors with metro, especially if you have your entire population over the 5000s, pretty much eliminating the need for the Alternative Life Centers

In sector two, I've always had a bug where the top left of the sector has one square used as an "occupied building space." So, I won't be able to place the first space dock in that spot. I'd love to know if there is a fix for this. I'd love to know it.

nice layout, but I personally like spread people between sectors to get that juicy +2 stability bonus from 800+ pops in sector. And why all on youtube so much love crop farms instead algae?
@Caledorn
@Caledorn Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 I would do that too, if I needed it. But when my lowest stability sector is at +4, and the highest one at +8 .. Why bother spending the space for the Alternative Life Centers when I can place down a battery or something else instead, thanks too the Exo Dome and the Train Stations? 😊 I don't need more trust than I already have. Also, the only reason I haven't built the Algae farms is that the 4 Crop Farms I have can support the entire Tiqqun, even on Normal rations (I tested post-making the guide). Thanks to the Mess Hall upgrades, mathematics dictate that 61.2 Food per cycle on average from the 4 Crop Farms will support 3060 Population without the Space Chef upgrade. With the upgrade the farms will support 6120 Population. I know I left some pods behind in Sol, but I'm not sure there even *is* 6120 population to pick up in total - so the only reason to move to Algae farms would be for the space. Which again, I don't particularly need...

That I ask myself too...is absurd to not go to algae ASAP after crops...the layout with the crop farms upside-down is terrible for logistics, space and power efficiency...but ppl are enamored of it (because it SEEMS clever to put the 2 farm main buildings like that...and is actually very stupid)
@Caledorn
@Caledorn Жыл бұрын
@@dimercamparini I see your point, but again.. Why bother going through all the pain of shifting the entire sector around when those 4 crop farms can support more people than you ever get onto the station? I don't exactly lack space either (except for one specific end game moment, where you'll have to do some shenanigans with the sectors in this layout to fulfil the objective). My food stockpiles are always full, and most of the farms can't even empty their harvest, so.. I just didn't bother. I will try algae farms in my next playthrough and see how they perform (but I'm pretty sure I won't notice much difference, since I am already overproducing food as much as I am here..)

@@Caledorn because you gain immediate efficiency in basically every scarce resorce that the game has as a mechanic to put you in a difficult situations, where you have to make choices and deal with trade-offs (those being: space, power, workforce), thus freeing some of them for other purposes. In my view, more efficiency is always better and preferable than less efficiency...even if is not super-necessary and vital for success...especially if you are a newbie of the game and you are already struggling with other aspects of it that you are dealing with at the same time...my intention is not to try to teach you something (you are obviously very competent at the game), just trying to make a general point and give advice to ppl that are not experts and come around here looking for tips and way to improve.

Comments on the space sector: 1) it's ok but you have 1 too many EVAs...you will never ever need more than 3 up until endgame (all bonusses and upgrades accounted for, obviously)...put a 3rd hangar in its place instead. 2) only for this sector use the policy population that gives more relaxed work condition...that gives more points for repairing the hull (with same alloy used) so is perfectly efficient (and you wont need many workers around here anyway) 3) a single hospital in a sector is NOT good...when you get that building put 2 together in a single sector and delete all the small clinics...keep one of them unpowered (if 1 broke up during the usual bunch of accidents that happens regularly...power the other one...then revert back to the default when the crisis is passed) BTW, same thing is valid for any other big building that you need to stay always on...like power plants...DONT put them in different sectors...put them all in ONE.

In terms of food sector - I see you have 4 crop farms. Alge farms are not better than those crop farms - they are using less water with the same amout food being produced in the same time - am I right?
@dimercamparini
@dimercamparini Жыл бұрын
No...the algae farm uses less water...but also, in the same amount of time, they produce DOUBLE the food, DOUBLE the wastes (that can be used in different ways recycling them, so is an upside not a downside) And also a single algae farm is like 2/3 of the space occupied by a crop farm...and you obviously need less of them to feed the same population because they produce double the amount...so the space occupied in the end is a LOT less Also a single algae uses MORE power than a single crop...BUT since you basically need half of them to feed the same population you end up also with less power used to do the same job. Also the algae produces a little less but way faster...so the throughput is also more consistent (less up and down, full and empty) and way more easy to manage by the logistics of the base (the little trucks that go around) Also the algae has only 2 upgrades with science, and the crop need 5 upgrades instead to be fully buffed...so with algae you even use less science (if you didnt fully upgraded crops before transitioning) The difference in efficiency between the 2 is abyssal! I tried for fun to put 1 each of them in the same sector, in closed systems so they were isolated from the rest of the station and see how much they were producing in different containers...with both fully upgraded...the difference in performance is ridiculous, the algae was basically running in circles around the crop. :DDD That is why I am advising ppl tu use them ASAP in my other comment around here.

It varies upom need. Sector 2 has 6 cargo ships most of the time, but if I am in a high need of meining stuff, I happily stuff mining ships in there instead, temporarily. Science ships I have in Sector 1, since those docking bays are the one I am least likely to want to drag stuff on board with. I try to run 9 mining ships total in the phases where I need to mine a lot of stuff, fast. And then I reduce to 6 or even 3 mining ships if I go into a phase where I want cargo ships to pull things into the Tiqqun 😊

I dont agree with your assessment about drones...a well oiled station can totally afford (and should have) all 6 sectors with their drone building in it. (never had a problem with power and space for them TBH.) Also about the fighting dome...my opinion is that is completely superfluous...NEVER pospone a better research to get it instead...save it for later...or never...not important in the least... (not using it and not even using the various memorial buildings I never gone under "neutral" in some occasions...and was constantly at +3+6 for the most part of my playthrough...also lets remember that having any happyness over +1 is basically useless...you can regularly stay at neutral or +1 and be perfectly fine...you dont get a prize for achieving uber amounts of happyness)

Comments on the food sector: OK, putting here MY personal tutorial (I am recycling it from another comment in another video I watched early, sorry) on how to do this for middle and early game because I have seen your layout already around and I actually hate it...I never use crop farms for long but only as a very temporary "passage" technology to arrive at ALGAE ASAP (I also completely skip FUNGI farms and forget about them)...their layout of 4x6 per piece is far more flexible/manageable and their space/power efficiency is far superior to anything else so is absurd to stay stuck with crop farms in late game. TUTORIAL on how to have a FOOD SECTOR from early chapter 3 and on: 1) STUDY ALGAE ASAP after crop farms 2) free a space of 12 squares of heigth all along the bottom and draw a straight road from left to right at the 13th square from the bottom 3) from the left: put vertically a couple of ice melters facing UP at the road 4) after the melters (left to right) put 3 sets of algae farms with the main 4x6 building facing UP at the road, and all the 4x6 fields put under them to fill all the space that you have to get to the bottom wall (the placement is at will, just use all the space cleverly because you can put the fields of 4x6 orizontally or vertically...leave a couple of 4x6 spaces between each farm set because if upgraded they will get 2 fields more each, so you wont have to move them around again) 5) over the orizontal road put 2 MEDIUM containers facing DOWN in front of the algae main buildings you have placed at the other side of the road...this way they INSTANTLY collect the crops of food and storage them for it to be distributed FAST to other sectors. AFTER this initial setup, that is using water (you need to bring ICE in the sector, maybe with a dedicated hangar that you can build in the upper side of the room, and 1-2 LARGE containers to store it) prepare to go basically WATERLESS: 1) research the water treatement center and put it somewhere in the central strip of the sector where all the small additional buildings will go...like condos, +happiness etc. 2) collect wastes from ALL the other sectors with the appropriate policy and funnel them into this one You can have 3 SCENARIOS at this point: a) your station is producing just enough waste to feed the water treatement: you can completely forget about water anymore, delete all the buildings that have become useless (melters, hangars, ecc) b) your station is NOT producing enough wastes: keep 1 single ice melter in case of emergency and fill the tank every now and then...keep bringing in MINIMAL ice...dont pile it up in the thousands. (I would do this anyway just to face temporary unbalances in waste production) c) your station is producing MORE wastes than the waste treatement is using: aligned in the upper section along the upper wall put 4 waste recyclers that produce other kind or resources here and power them up and use them when you see that your wastes are piling up over a certain point (always keep the wastes to get the waste tretement going for the water you need in the farms (4 waste recyclers is because at 4 you get the TIER 1 bonus for industry too...build them even if you dont use them all at the same time...but NOT MORE than 4) You will still have plenty of room in the central section of the sector to put smaller buildings SUPER PRO TIP: when you place the fields of the first 2 algae farms, at some point place 1 vertically near the bottom wall...you will remain with a perfect spot of 4x6 near the upper road to put vertically, facing up, a MESS HALL...perfect placement...then to the right ot this setup you can put another algae farm to complete the set of 3 This will feed more than 5000 ppl (the endgame), if you have less, because you do this setup early, and you see you start piling up too much food (my advice is NEVER go down from a projected usage of food of about 4-5 meals and never go over 7 of them) 1) put the food policy in some sectors in a way that some of your ppl are consuming more food (that you have in abundance at 0 cost) for more happiness all around. 2) if you dont need that or for other reasons...take the power out from 1 of the 3 farms...go down to like 3-4 projected meals, and then re-power the farm up for another bit (BEWARE: they consume a lot of power so check to have it prior to lit them up again)...from chapter 3 and on that will keep your food needs in check forever with true minimal intervention.
@Caledorn

Great and detailed guide! Thank you so much for bothering to write all that! 😊 The reason I didn't do something like that is that my 4 farms supply over 6000 people with food, even on normal rations, so it felt a bit redundant to me to tear up the entire farm sector (as you know, managing alloys to rebuild a sector is a PITA), so I just stuck with them. I think the devs should rebalance the crop farms and make them produce less food tbh, to make people choose between algae or mushroom late game. But balance passes are coming in January, so who knows what they have up their sleeves? 😄

Yeah, he is just trying to get views. Just like his Tips video this one is useless. These layouts are rather inefficient, in fact he indirectly admits that himself at about 2:15 by stating that he prefers to have docking bays in relevant sectors due to them getting clogged up. Problems with these layouts: 1. TOO MANY ROADS. 2. Missing a single road that goes all the way around the Tiqqun that goes through one of two sets of middle inter-sector pass-throughs. 3. What? 3 drone bays? If you have more than 1 at any point in the game, you are doing something wrong. 4. Similarly, if you have more than 2 Steel mills for any prolonged time, you doing something wrong ( the only time to have 3 is when moving industrial building from sector 1 to sector that will specialize in industry), and with crazy recycling this game has, in the late game you should have none at all. 5. Again, too many Docking Bays. 6. Food and industrial specialized sectors should have recycling specialization. Here are obvious guides to follow (#1 is so obvious that it should be apparent in first 10 minutes of game play, and this guy brakes it in the easiest to implement sector: population. At least he did the right thing and put Food production and pop sectors right next to each other, although I speculate it is not because he though about but because that was the order he built his sectors in.) 1. To solve the clogging up issue, there should be one main road that goes through all of the sectors at the same level of one of two middle inter sector pass-throughs effectively dividing each sector into two parts. One would be 16x56 and another 13x56 (one missing tile is for the road itself). The only sector that might have a slight deviation is the one with Arena, since there is a choice between ending up with with unusable 2*14=28 tiles or move the main road by one tile up just around the Arena thus adding 2 tiles to travel distance and also technically loosing those 2 tiles to that kink in the road. Obviously the second option is the way to go. 2. Put buildings that consume resources on that main road with corresponding supply side storage just across on that same road. 3. Try to get a 'T' shape for the secondary roads on each side of the main road, with those being as short as possible, and the vertical part as close to middle as possible (Don't try to get this point in every sector.) 4. To help achieve #3 put large large buildings that do not require resource deliveries(like Tier-3 batteries, Memorials, Drone bay etc.) in the corners of the sector, and residential buildings at top and bottom edges. This especially works well with 6x3 residential buildings and 7x7 Memorial or Tier-3 battery: put memorial in one corner, Tier 3 battery in another and then 16 housing units will perfectly fit in between, while leaving a nice 9x56 strip to work with (nice since most industrial building have at least one side that is 9 tiles wide.) 5. Combine Food and Recycling specializations, since Food specialization increases trash production and having recycling building there reduced transportation time, and in turn Recycling specialization increases food production, and since trash production rate is related to food production rate farms will produce even more trash than just with Food specialization. With this combo, you will have so much trash that it is possible to not have industrial sector at all and produce all industrial resources via recycling, thus creating completely self sustaining Tiqqun in Chapter 3.

Very good tips! But no. I am not doing this "trying to get views". I am doing this because I enjoy making videos, and interacting with you - the viewers. Views are nice and all, but I'd much rather have a video with 100 views and a lot of interaction with the audience, than a video with 50000 views a little to no interaction with the audience. As is proven by my channel if you look at it in the broader perspective and what I have done in the past. 😉

@@Caledorn Well thank you for reply, especially since I know that I was not very nice with my comment. It just when one searches for some good tips on how to play some game, and you get a 2 videos with no useful info from same creator that wastes at least 15 minutes of one's life, one gets riled up. Said the guy who just wasted 155 hours on the game he gated. Yes, I hated the game itself, and I think you liked it, as I remember from the other videos. The biggest problem with it I had was how Illiterate it is. It is set in our universe (or something very close to it), and future iteration of human civilization, but yet: 1. Space weather events that simply could not exist in our universe (especially the one in chapter 2 "extream cold" one) while there exists a ton of real speace weather that was not used, like solar flares. 2. Planets that need to be discovered via probes. What, creators of the game not aware of telescopes? It was done so that could give a meaning to retarded probe launch mechanics from which they also took away zoom, when if such interface in real life would be all about zooming in (I speculate it was done to give it some "meaning" to that game mechanic. With zoom it just really becomes too easy, but things like this are a sign of poor overall design.) 3. Space flight cinematics are all wrong in many ways. Just add a visual of Tiqqun flipping to do a retro burn half way through the travel between planets and remove aero effects. There is no aero effects in space, even at the speeds Tiqqun travels, which is about 1% of speed of light. And many many more. So apologies for spilling some of that frustration on to you. Still I would recommend for your future videos either to stop and really think: does the video you are about to post has actually some info that will elevate majority of viewer's game play? Or don't name it so definitively "Mid-to-late game sector layouts" that people think that it is coming from some one who really spent some time to find ins and outs of the game. This last one will truly test your words about you being about community and views, since your views will drop dramatically. Cheers.
