This is not your typical “restoration.” Hand scrapping everything in. Absolutely next level. Then using your mill like a lathe because your lathe is apart. I love it. Watching your videos makes me want to be better.

@@deanf7086 essentially just making a part as flat as possible by comparing it to a known flat: the granite stone. As you can see he puts ink on the stone and moves the part back and forth over it so only the high spots get inkt on them, remove the high spots and repeat until the entire surface gets spots of ink on it and there are no large concentrations or high spots left.

What an outstanding job at thoroughly renovating a complex piece of machinery & dare I suspect without any form of manual but merely instinct to go by. One wonders how many hours of labour went into this machine & more importantly what it's resale value must be after all this dedication. If ever there was a mechanical engineering certificate &/ diploma worth it's weight in gold; this surely must be one of them. You've truly excelled & gone beyond what mere engineers would dare to undertake such a task. Very well done once again. Kind regards.

I see so many of these “restoration” videos pop up where someone just scrapes off the rust, strips the paint, slathers on a new coat, and *voila* “restored.” It’s SOO nice to see someone post one where the machine actually was fully restored! Surface plate, ways scraped true, the full treatment, back to true precision. Very nice work!! It@/ also awesome because a Moriseiki lathe was the first rebuild project I actually got to be part of, assisting a true master who really knew what he was doing.

can you tell me why the need to scrape?, why not just flat the slide using vertical lathe or whatever y'll call that thingy is since he have own one, more flat more accurate and lest friction at least that is how i see it
@ayanomihiiro953
@ayanomihiiro953 2 жыл бұрын
@@FirdausAzhar87 no machine can archive the same perfection as a blued and scraped surface, even machines leave behind imperfection as a result of tool pressures, clamping forces etc and even if u manage to hold onto the part in a free state; the result will always be off since when machining metal u release stress in the metal even with cast that is super stable its still has to be scarped to get parallelism, flatness and squareness right.

This has got to be one of the best lathe restorations I have seen so far! With the amount of acquired machine restoration experience demonstrated it would seem one is ready to tackle a CNC rebuild. Especially since the price difference for the older CNC machines in today's market is relatively close to their manual counterparts. The learning curve for the electronics is nominal since most systems or components have dedicated and defined purposes. Either way, the level of expertise shown here is commendable!

BRAWO !!

Now this IS a lathe restoration, probably better than factory new. I have seen many so called restorations, but none to this standard. Machine scraping for rough work and hand scraped for a fine finish. Brilliant work all the way. Some of the restorations I have seen would be considered ‘black smithing’ compared to this standard of workmanship.
