Calgarians working outside in extreme cold

Calgary’s current cold snap is forcing many to stay home and work indoors but there are some who need to work in the cold. Henna Saeed explains how they do it in these extreme temperatures.

In extreme weather, you have to be careful. If you stay too long in excessive heat or cold, your body could get overwhelmed and develop different treatment needs.

During winter If it's too warm, climate crisis. Too cold than than they crying. It's winter. Nothings changed for years.

30 yrs ago weather didn't make the news. We got up in 40 below in alberta and went off to work. Nobody said much other than...its a cold one today!

I do. I worked outdoors for 2 winters now even at -40C. Most of us in the junkyard are "new Canadians" in fact. Most old breed Canadians are so used to heated cars and heated homes that they don't last when winter comes, always complaining about their "micro breaks" and "right to refuse unsafe work" like a bunch of sissys. We tough 3rd worlders don't need those stuff, just some warm clothes and we work from 6am to 4pm. No microbreaks needed. Then we commute back home via bus, no heated cars bec we poor junkyard workers. I actually enjoy winter than the other 3 seasons. Not dusty, dry, sunny, and I never have to worry about sweating a lot. Fall/spring is miserable because it's muddy and wet. Summer, now that made me think about my life choices while I inhale cancer dust, get sun burnt, and get heat exhaustion.
