Where I live in Canada we grow lemons, olives, ginsing and we have huge palm trees! Some of my neighbors have bananas throwing in their non-heated green houses...we rarely ever get snow, maybe once every ten to twenty years, it falls and melts as it hits the ground but these past five years the snow stayed for weeks! Colder than ever! Salt spring island in the gulf islands on the west coast has very mild winters. The hippies still wear sandals and shorts! Our summers are cooler than most and we enjoy mild weather all year. We have had beautifully sunny november

If youve ever had an abscess tooth, thats about the same pain level as a gunshot. This info came direct from an ex seal team member. (His unit was the one that was in 'blackhawk down' but wasnt enlisted at the time) Tho clearly, a gunshot does more damage.

My god I feel for you people since this is hell for you. I spent one week 120 miles north of Montreal at -32 F snowshoeing from the SUV to the cabin with only a fireplace to heat. Everybody in the area are used to this. It is a question of being used to it I guess. Touch wood no block heater, good battery, good vehicule no problem starting. Please do not lock your doors if it is safe. As for door handle or lock’s freezing a good pee will unfreeze them long enough to open them. In Montreal one of our older Hospitals that was 50% mothballed was reopened by the government to help the homeless ie cold and food etc.

Mean while on Lake Michigan: The world's biggest cruise ship;Endeavor Of The Seas is making it's way through Lake Michigan in the dead of night under a starry sky. When a tall dark shadow appears out of the darkness. The officer on duty yells: "ICE BERG RIGHT AHEAD!.FULL SPEED REVERSE AND HART TO PORT!".Seconds later everyone hears a strange scraping sound as the ice berg hits the starboard side of the ship. The ship goes down in two hours and 20 minutes with close to 1500 passengers still on board. I constantly wonder how cities took root in the coldest areas of the north but I guess British, Nordic, Russian etc settlers were more than accustomed to brutal, debilitating cold and snow. It’s kind of a farce that we have such major cities clustered in the susceptibly coldest areas of the country while there’s massive empty areas in all parts of the south
