People will start migrating to Edmonton once Cagary also becomes expensive like other major cities like Kitchener, Brampton, etc. So I think now is the best time to buy in Edmonton as you can negotiate a lot over there and since population will be increasing every year with increased immigration and when Govt starts shifting focus from Calgary to Edmonton, then it will shoot prices in Edmonton as well.

Now a days, Edmonton, not worth living in Calgary, rising house prices and rent. I don't see any difference btw both cities, but House price for front Garage 1500-2000 sq ft is around 460-530 k in Edmonton, landed small size house under 1300 sq ft current price in Calgary, if detached front garage then price 550- 750 k for same house in Edmonton. Apartment, house rent price sky rocketing with no reason, mortgage now days locked and fixed, job scenario same in both cities, if you have specific skills if professional or technical person can can get job or succeed in both Edmonton or Calgary. Calgary Near to Banff, but how much a family employed person visit Banf or jasper once or twice per each summer, so traveling 2.5 hours more to Banff does not make much difference. Not all should immigrate or move to Calgary but think Edmonton also. Weather is almost same in Summer some people say Winters bit colder may 5-7 degree more colder in Edmonton, but I visited Edmonton in December and February didn't see much temp difference. EDMONTON more wide, roads are not crowded as Calgary, Edmonton has beautiful parks in city as Calgary has, Edmonton has many good ranking and many public Elementary, middle and high schools, student to teacher ratio better in Edmonton.

Both cities have traffic cameras installed at intersections. If you speed or pass through a red light, you will receive a traffic ticket by mail. If the car is a rental, the rental company will back-charge your traffic ticket + service charge months later.

I can spend hours walking inside West Edmonton Mall; especially during winter months when outside is so cold and full of snow. NJ has American Dream Mall (owned by Canadian deeloper) that tries to copy it.

Let me break down . I moved to Calgary last year lived for few months and realize that Calgary is nice but not worth the hype . People from Ontario and bc moving thinking it’s cheap but you would need a good job to pay mortgage. The market was already very hyped last year this year is crazy as well . Yes Calgary looks beautiful and has mountain but will you go every weekend to Banff ? The issue is I am not willing to pay 150 k more for a house which was cheaper last year . People moving not issue but I can’t explain thousands of people moved and the city can’t give everyone a job . I would recommend Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon you can move their work 2 years and get a house and it won’t be way over priced . ❤

What about the wages. Ontario has much higher rates. Grocery is also expensive in calgary. U paid less tax but grocery expensive hy. u didn't get school in every area. It oil prices hits mostly company reduce their employee base pay and they reduce working hours or as needed. This i never seen ontario. Plz also share this.

Biggest problem with both places is if you lose your job, you have 20 jobs in Ontario for 2 jobs in Calgary and 1 in Edmonton... The income tax difference is minimal and when you factor in the higher ticket prices to India over the year , then you Technically make lower but house rent pulls it right back... Main question is How is the indian population in Calgary? Does it feel as close to home as Brampton

Depends upon , if you have specific skills or high education then doesn't matter you live in Edmonton or GTA, Medical Healthcare professionals paid more, more earning in Edmonton

Yeah i have worked in calgary, Edmonton and ottawa. And i have to agree job culture in alberta has become more toxic over the years since oil and gas when down. The alberta employers make you jump through hoops. But in ontario employers are desparate. They are willing to make adjustment. They are offering more vacations. In alberta annaul vacations were 3 weeks min. But now they have gone to 2 weeks. 4 to 5 weeks is ideal if you want to go back to see family in india, pakistan, etc.

Rents are 2000-2300$ plus Utilities, for 2 bedroom apartment in Calgary, 1 bed 1800-2000$, basement rent 1600 $ for 2 bed, 1300-1500 $ 1 bed basement, house upper floor almost 2000- 2400$ plus Utilities, thus is currently rate in June 2023, Edmonton 300-400$ less rent as compared to Calgary Calgary becoming as expensive as GTA or Vancouver area.

I am not sure how you can do that if you have sufficient funds for your stay and enough reasons to depart to your home country at the end of your stay. This is how you get a visitor visa and asylum is opposite to it, aimed for displaced people
