I’m worried Shadow is not as engaged in the nest restorations as he used to be. I felt Jackie’s frustration- she was waiting for him for so long and then she had to call after him. He came over, eventually, argued with her over a stick, and checked out pretty quickly. It’s so not like Shadow. The nest is a mess and Jackie knows that, she keeps testing it and it’s not comfortable at all with all those pesky sticks in the middle of it, and virtually no fluff. I hope they’ll sort out their relationship and start working together again. They’re so loved! I hope they feel our love and support!

Jackie and Shadow, you need to go find a dead elk or deer, and bring back gobs of their hair. It is hollow and would make great insulation for the nest. We would love to see you successfully hatch chicks this year!

Per Cali's comments (hit "more" after the time that the video was posted, the visitor is probably less than a year old. Eagles are 4-5 years old before they can mate, so no, not interested in the birds and bees at this time.

Yes, in short spurts...like cat naps. You’ll see Jackie or Shadow close their eyes for a bit when they lay on the eggs later in the season. It’s quite cute.
