We were lucky and found Cantharellus Roseocanus in Mendocino a few weeks back. They smell absolutely divine, almost like apricot, and taste pretty good compared to golden and whites! Would love to know if you've compared them all side-by-side before, doc!

Awesome! Do you have any recommendations on what parks to forage in Mendocino Forrest or Sonoma coast this time of year?

I live close to Mendocino and I have been harvesting and eating spy mushrooms for more than10 years. They have a very characteristic appearance and wonderful almondy smell. I have seen people recommend against eating them as there are apparently some species that look similar and are toxic. I smell each one as I pick to make sure I have the right one also use context.

Hey do you reccomend any parks in Mendocino Forrest for foraging chanterelle or porcini?

Thanks for the video. Does the Golden Chanterelle go by another name? I just bought the Field Guide to Mushrooms by the National Audubon Society and it has pictures of a few different chanterelles but I don't see 'Golden Chanterelles'. Thank you.

Cantharellus californicus goes by several names “oak chanterelle”, “California Chanterelle”, “mud puppy”, most likely it is not in the Audubon book

Nice, looks like we took a trip to the same place at the same time. I have a couple jars full of b. Edulis and c. Subalbidus powder to use over the year until next fall. Still have a couple perfect button porcini that I'm trying to figure out how to use, might end up giving em to a friend for his pizza shop Edit: was the Styrofoam like mushroom that escaped you a rhizopogon?
